Download from one pc to another

Today I purchased the perfect solution to download from my old pc with windows xp to my new pc that has windows vista. When I got home I realized that my CDRom has a broken cd in it and therefore I cannot download the software to transfer the data because it has to be installed in the windows xp.What do I do now?

You can't remove the broken CD or is the tray not opening?

If the tray is not opening straighten out a paperclip and insert it into the release hole on the front of the drive .. this will open the tray

Is there a download limitation using Windows Vista?

first of all turn your antivirus and firewall back on at once, as this is not the cause! i think this may be some cable modem<->vista incompatibility

Can not play flight simulator says d3drm.dll is not in vista

Is your game old? d3drm.dll is related to Direct 3D retained mode which is part of Microsoft's DirectX API, Direct 3D is very old (1997) and has been removed from Window's Vista, therefor creating the incompatability.

d3drm.dll as I have come to understand, was implemented in Windows XP, if you have a copy or know someone who uses XP you could try looking through :windowssystem32 folder for the d3drm.dll file and copying it to your own system32 directory.
If you don't have access to XP at all you could also try this link
http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/D/d3drm.dll/5.1.2600.0/download.html
You may wish to take precautions before downloading as downloads from an unknown site can always be risky.

If you have a copy of Windows XP, but you don't feel like messing with Vista's system directory or copying it didn't work, you could always try virtualization. Running a virtual copy of Windows XP along side Vista would allow you to run older games while running Vista.

Virtual Box is free and in my opion, easy to use virtualization software, you could try that or you could try vmware but that costs money.

Cant get back on reg xp windows. they have me on vista windows

If your machine was new and came with Vista pre-installed, you'll need to purchase Windows XP (assuming you do not already have your old Windows XP CD). Once you've got the XP CD, you can pop it in and install XP if you do not want Vista.

I purchased a Memorex Mini Travel drive, but there is no info on attaching to a PC and also how to download files to the mini drive. Also, can you load data from a XP system to a VISTA system without...

just plug the memorex drive to the usb port in your pc or laptop, just copy the files in your pc or laptop and paste it to your memorex drive. yes you can copy or download files in your old xp to the new windows vista.
