Question about ION Audio TTUSB10 Turntable

Recording in mono and not stereo

I recently purchased an Ion TTUSB turntable and set it up as per instructions however when I go to record I receive a pop up dialogue box informing me that I am recording in mono and that my computer needs to be configured to record in stereo. Is there anyone out there who can provide an idiots guide to setting the recording device to stereo? Thanks for reading this problem. My operating system is Vista Home Premium.

Oh I am just so dumb! All I want to do is use the ION to copy my vinyl, track by track and album by album (naming tracks and albums for ease of refernce) and burn them to CD! I am using Audacity software but am baffled by the whole process. Can anyone help?
    Many thanks

Thanks for your rapid response. Fortunately I discovered the problem and was able to resolve it. Whether it is just my computer or all computers I wouldn't know. When I switched my computer off, after recording vinyl to my pc, then switched it back on again my pc had reset the default input so I had to reconfigure it again. Since then I have not used it but wonder if I have to reconfigure the recording device everytime that I switch my computer on. I did make the USB Codec microphone my default recording device and applied the setting but the pc seemed to do its own thing.

All the best

Set your Audacity software to STEREO MIX on the main window. Go into EDIT, Preferences and set the recording device to your sound card and the channels to 2 stereo.

Volume is too low even with Gain turned to maximum. Also talking during recording gets picked up on the recording.

Your computer sound controls govern input volume and the use of a microphone. If you have a mic, find the control and turn it OFF.

Software says if I continue, it will record in mono. How do I switch to stereo? I'm recording from an album to my computer, and onto a CD-R.

Maybe the software is only detecting one channel. Try checking your connections. Don't forget the wires to the cartridge.

ION TTUSB10 turntable plugged into Toshiba laptop,

Maybe the output is not good enough for line in on laptop try mic in, then double click the sound icon down bottom right where time is, goto options, properties, then recording inside of recording make sure all boxes are ticked so you have all options like mic wave stereo mix line and so on, click ok, now make sure what ever you have the turn tables pluged into is selected as your recording device and not muted try again, once this is all ok ., it should work. hope this helps. also make sure your software you use to record is also set up same. take care

Recording tracks from vynal stop recording after 1minute

2 solutions, check all hook ups and make sure they ok, 1. see if your turntable can be played thru the stereo like amp or receiver with your audio cords and record that way to cassette tape. 2. if your turntable can go thru computer using usb cord and make sure you have download your software that came with your turntable if it didn't go store and like office max or simlair buy a product called inport deluxe by xitel
