Hi,
Have you tried Windows Update,

If not follow this:

Click on start --> Programs --> Windows Update and accept all updates.

Windows update scans what your computer has connected to it and will see if there are any out-of-date drivers and software. it will also download them and install them for you automatically.

When this is done, restart the computer and check then if the sound is working.

What kind of computer is it? What OS?

If you're running XP, go to Control Panel and open System. In Device Manager, look for a device with a exclamation point or question mark next to it. If you find one and it says "Multimedia Device" or some such next to it, right-click on it and uninstall it, then reboot. Assuming this was some major PC manufacturer (like HP,) on reboot, Windows should find the drivers for it.

Speakers, no sound

Since they were working, check the basics first.
  1. Check the speakers on another device. Mp3 player will work fine.
  2. check the sound card on your computer (use a set of headphones or another speaker set).
  3. If you find they weren't plugged in, powered on, etc. resolve that. Usually the power plugs are black, and only fit in one spot. The audio cable to plug into the computer is similar to a headphones jack (3.5mm). On most computers the audio output (speakers) port is colored green.
  4. If none of these get you fixed, go into the control panel and click the sounds icon. From there you can view your volume levels (is the sound muted?), view your playback device (it might have a hardware problem, or be disabled), and test the settings.
  5. If you are still stuck after this please also post your version of windows, and the make/model of your computer. If you know it, the type of audio device you are using would also be helpful.
Thanks for asking, and Good Luck!

Move the speakers back to the first computer, to ensure that they still work.

Make sure that the speakers are getting AC power.

Check that you have plugged them into the "line-out" (GREEN) conector on the sound-card.

Check that you have not "muted" the sound on your bedroom computer.

Move the "volume-control" slider away from "minimum".

Open Device Manager on the computer, to confirm that your audio-device is fully-loaded into Windows, with the correct device-drivers.
Having any "unknown" devices is a hint that some device-drivers have not been loaded.

Here is a solution : On desktop go to ::
my computer----mouse right click----properties----system----device management. There you can find symbols for all devices that are already installed on your system . Scroll down until you find the definition of your audio device software , for example , if your audio driver software is a realtek then right mouse click on it , then you'll find disable , just disable it and then uninstall the audio driver software ! After that you should restart your system . When system started again , install the software again , and restart the system once again . Now you should hear the operating system starting tone .. If you didn't hear the tone , then go to device management again and enable the audio device once again .
good luck . rate if useful please !

No drivers for your soundcard, this is a computer issue not a speaker issue, contact dell, if you can understand a word they say, ask them "I have Dimension (model number here), I need to know how to install my sound drivers", if you dont know how to do this.
