Question about Sharp R-1492 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

No Heat Have a Sharp R-1492 microwave oven was heating up some rice and was working fine, cooking stopped, turntable stopped but timer kept counting down. When done tried to restart but only light would come on and timer worked no cooking at all. Also noticed microwave was very hot (to the touch). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: No Heat

This is probably due to a bad door switch, most likely the top one. The microwave got hot because the cooling fan was not running. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your model number here:

Sharp Carousel R530BK microwave won't cook unless light pressure is kept on the door button.

There are door switches and one of them is evidently out of adjustment or the little actuator arm on it is.

Microwave timer works but will motor will not run/cook.

If everything works on the unit, but you do not receive any heat or possibly the turntable does not turn you have a faulty magnetron (controls heat) and a faulty motor (controls turntable). You would require service on the unit, if parts are available. Some microwaves are so small in cubic foot size, that manufacturer's do not have parts available for purchase/repairs.

Does not heat up properly. Seems it lost it's

Assuming the turntable works maybe your magnetron isn't working properly. Cheaper to buy new microwave then to fix it.

Sharp 1870 just quit cooking and no turntable

The fact that the microwave and convection both do not heat indicated that the oven is in demo mode, check the user manual, otherwise it will possibly be a relay not triggering, may need a pcb replacement, check Demo mode 1st....Phil

Microwave turns on, but no heat or turntable movement

The problem is that the magnatron is not getting power. Chance is that if could be a bolwn fuse inside the unit. If the fuse don't fix it then that leaves the charging diode, capacitor or the magnatron, or high voltage xformer of which without technical epertize I would not recomend attempting to replace. good luck

Combination microwave oven

What is the nature of the failure?

Can you enter cooking the time?

If so, what happens when you press Start?

Does it run (count down, lights on, turntable on ) but not heat?

Brand and model might help, too, but the basics are the same, so we're happy to help you with more information.
