My VSX 517 amp's sound is outputted before the vision on the TV. The sound seems to be anything up to half a second ahead, it is not always out it depends on how long someone is speaking for, plus which...

Lip Sync issues are the nature of the beast. The TV has to process the digital video bitstream a lot more than the receiver has to process the audio so the result can be a gradual lagging of the video behind the sound...

Some receivers have a sound delay control which you can use to try to sync them up. You didn't name yours so one does not know. I don't think this unit has that function. Look in the manual.

Dial norm +4 on Pioneer vsx-ax4avi-s? Understand is an auto feature but annoying, controls volume level. can it be switched off/

here is a link to your manual:
http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/archive/VSX-AX4AVi-S/media.html
looks to be an auto calibration the mcacc turned on during the testing and setup phase. you could always put the mcacc in manual mode and go through the settins yourself. Just be aware that the setting you are talking about controls the level of you dialog channel and lowing might cause you to have less ability to hear low dialog.

Cheers!

My klipsch subwoofer won't play on my pioneer receiver.

Hello,
You do not mention if this is a Pioneer VSX type receiver or if it is a Stereo receiver. Assuming the first, you need to enable the Sub-out output. The Owners manual will show you how. Then you should connect from the Sub-out using a good quality RCA type sub specific if possible cable to your Klipsch Sub. Play with all the levels until you are satisfied. It will take some time to set up properly.
Good luck.

VSX-D466S

Bad News!
If the fuse is in the mains (power line) you could have a bad rectifier or other problem in the power supply. Most amplifiers nowadays have switching power supplies and they are not as easy to troubleshoot as the older linear supplies. If an Output or driver transistor is shorted, the power supply fuse will dump just as fast, load or no load.

Pioneer Amp/Receiver VSX-D466S remote malfunction

Hi, I am convice it's not the amp itself, is your remote a pioneer, if it isn't then it's your remote. Even thought you have bought a universal remote, it doesn't garanty it will work with any device,.... take my word, i've seen this costantly depending on the age of the unit.
If it's a pioneer universale remote, you would have to get the schematic for the amp and trace the opto sensor in the from and see with a scope what is the output of the sensor that goes to the micron, could also be the amp stage, sensor or micron that's causes your problem.

If some reason this is all bla bla bla, then just see if the infrered sensor for cold solder joint or a cracked board .

I hope this help
