Question about HP Deskjet 6940 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printer says "door open", but nothing open.

Checked all possible entries into printer, nothing open. Reset the printer, but still does not print. Happened after changing the black print cartridge. Tried the alcohol swab, checked the cartridge inself, nothing. Printer only 1 year old. Need help, used for business.

Hi,
Try to reset your printer to factory default settings. But before you do that, I'd like you to do this first.
  • Open the printer access door.
  • Remove and install the print head two times.
  • Close the printer access door.
  • Wait until the printer is ready to use.
if this won't work.
reset all defaults to the factory default settings:
1. Press Home. 2. Press "arrow down" to select Printer Settings. 3. Press "arrow down" to select Reset All Settings, then press OK. 4. When you see the message, "This will reset printer settings to factory defaults," press OK
Hope this helps.

I was printing a 10-page job and the first page just got stuck halfway out of the printer. I tried pressing the reset buttons, tugging gently on the paper, nothing. I tried unplugging it and plugging it...

If the paper is halfway OUT of the printer, that means that the other half is stuck in the fuser.
Open the toner cartridge door and remove the toner. Leave the door open. This relieves tension on the rollers.
Grab the paper as close as you can to the back of the printer and pull the paper out carefully.
Put the toner back in and close the door. You may have to power cycle the printer.

Error 3806

You can try the following workaround:

1. Open the printer access door.
2. Disconnect the power adapter from the printer.
3. Wait 30 seconds to allow the printer to reset.
4. Connect the power adapter to the printer. Turn the printer on if necessary.
- After the printer has powered up, the message "Printer access door open" will appear.
5. Close the printer access door.

If the error continues:

1. Open the printer access door.
2. Remove and install the printhead two times.
3. Close the printer access door.
4. Wait until the printer is ready to use.

Does the office jet 8500 have a power reset button ? paper jamed, i removed the paper but now nothing happens

Hi,

Check the following Steps to fix HP Printer Carriage Jam :

Open the print carriage access door. Check for any packing material that may be blocking the internal components. Check for an orange shipping lock that may still be in place on the left side. Pull the shipping lock out, if present, and discard.

Remove and reinstall the cartridges to make sure they are properly installed. Lift the front center of the print carriage access door to open it. Lift the door up until it locks into an open position. Press down on a print cartridge and allow it to spring back up. Lift the cartridge out of the printer. Do the same for the other cartridge. Slide the black cartridge into the slot on the left and the color cartridge into the slot on the right. Press down on each one to lock it into place. Lower the print carriage access door.

Check the print cartridges to make sure the protective tape has been removed from the ink nozzles. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Remove any tape or labels. Replace the cartridges into the printer.

Push in on the tab on the left side of the clean-out door on the back of the printer to open the door. Lift the door out of the printer. Check for any paper jams. Jammed paper can block the printer cartridge carriage from moving. Pull any jammed papaer out.

  3. Press and hold the Cancel button until all of the lights begin flashing up and down.
  4. Release the Cancel button and close the door. The photoconductor count should now be reset.
