Could be the sending unit or an actual problem with the engine.
The oil pressure will be lower at idle than at road speed but should stay above 20psi.

SOURCE: oil pressure gauge goes up when car started, but then down to 0

u Have a problem with the oil sending unit. The sensor is located beack right side of the engine block. Take out the switch and make sure u have good oil PSI. Should be 6 psi at idle and around 50 at 4000 RPM. If the presure is ok replace the switch they are very cheap about 20 bucks. Please rate.

SOURCE: 94 jeep grand cherokee oil pressure and engine temp?

I'm guessing your engine is'nt making any tapping noise with the low oil press.
Your oil pressure sending unit is most likely the culprit.
Is your car smoking when the temp. goes up?
You engine could be air bound or thermostat could be opening too late (might need new one).
PLEASE DO NOT OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP WITH A HOT ENGINE.

SOURCE: 97 wrangler oil pressure drops when engine is at idle

check the engine oil level... you could possibly need to replace the oil pump soon... if you do not live in a cold climate i would consider using 30 or 50 weight oil. do NOT use that in a cold climate as the oil is like molasses when it gets cold.
that's only temporary. one other thing to consider is a clogged oil filter... when was the last time it was changed ?

My check gauges light is on, oil hands goes over to zero, moves up, light goes off, when it drops back to zero, gauge light comes back on.

Well the warning light is supposed to come on if any of the gauges display a dangerous condition, such as no oil pressure.
You may have a faulty sending unit for the gauge, or a wiring problem, or the engine may actually be loosing oil pressure when the gauge drops.
You could replace the sending unit as a test, or have someone check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge.

The oil pressure drops to zero at idle. The pressure goes to normal when the car is moving. Is there a problem with the oil pump?

at idle ,what regulates oil pressure ,is the clearence, in the pump, itself, off idle the relief valve, ,regulates ,pressure, let me know if you have a pump, put in it, pull the old pump, apart, see if the spring for the relief ,,bypass, valve is broken, i have had a few ,issues with ,gm, pumps,

2001 F150 pressure gauge reads zero and light comes on when slowing down to 1st gear and stopped, sometimes light and gauge goes off and pressure returns, but fluctuates...also when gas applied and vehicle...

I assume you mean "Oil" pressure...This is the first sign of the main bearings getting to the point of needing replacement. The fact that the pressure goes up when you accelerate tells me that the oil pump is working. There is just too much bearing clearance for the oil pump to keep enough volume flowing at idle to maintain pressure. In short, it's time for an overhaul. It will be less expensive if you do it now than if you wait until you spin a bearing and destroy a crankshaft, or put a rod through the side of the engine block.

CAN A OIL PRESSURE GO DOWN TO 25 WHILE IN GEAR AND 40 WHILE HITING THE GAS IT SHOLD STAY AT 40 45 NORMALY NO MATER WHAT RIGHT ITS A 2000 DENALI 4X4 I DO HAVE ISSUES WITH 02 SENSORS IS THAT THE REASON WHY

Oil pressure is not constant, while idiling the pressure is less than when accelerating. Usually when the oil pressure gauge fluctuates it is a sign of low oil level.

Oil pressure gauge drops to zero at idle. Do I have a switch or senzor and where is it?

If your oil pressure is dropping to zero at an idle, then I would quit driving the vehicle. It is very possible that the engine is low on oil. Or that the oil pump is going bad. If you continue to drive the vehicle, you could ruin the engine. There is a oil pressure sending unit that could be bad. But if the oil pressure goes up when it is above an idle, then the sending unit is probably ok.

The oil pressure gauge goes from 0 to all the way up and the needle moves back and forth while driving it checked oil its good now its clicking underneath the car and it felt like the transmission was...

First we would need to know when this occurs. Asuming the oil level is at the full mark!. If the pressure goes up during acceleration and down at idle when engine is fully warmed up, then this is normal. An engine requires 10 psi of oil pressure per 1,000 rpm ( ex. 20 psi at 2,000 rpm, 25 psi at 2,500 rpm, and so on ) . If the gauge is moving back and forth erratically at idle , i would say the gauge is bad. If it drops to 0 while accelerating I would say your oil pump is bad. If from time to time it seems to work and other times it seems not to work, I would say the oil pressure sending unit for the gauge is bad. If the pump failed you would start to here a Knocking noise from the engine in a short period of time. Use the above scenario's to narrow down what it may be.

1997 Eagle Talon TSI AWD oil pressure goes from zero to normal and back

Te 1st thing to do is replace the oil pressure guage sending unit, most times that is the problem, if press remains low use a mechanical test guage to verify what the oil pressure is, hook this tester up at the port the sending unit is screwed into.
