That does nost sound normal. I would take a look at the output of the power supply. Look at your electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board. Do they look like the top of them has popped up? If so you can get replacement capacitor kits from www.lcdalternatives.com

7 blinks something went kaput in your y-sus board
one or more transistors
easy fix cost about 14$ to 30$ with transistors but the heck is you have to take out most of them cause they are in parallel to find wich one is shorted......hope this help

Manual says problem with SC, SS, or C boards. SC is large board at left when facing rear, SS is large board at right, and C is small long board at very top. You could check fuses on SC and SS. Also, SC and SS should make a buzzing noise(not too loud) if operating. If a fuse is blown, suspect that board is bad not just bad fuse. Search parts at encompassparts.

seven blinks on this model is the SC board. it will need a new SC board and the software update for the new board. usually only authorized servicers have the software need to do the upgrade. but if you were to contact panasonic then they might be able to have it fixed for you for free since this was a defect in manufacturing. of course this depends on how long you have had the tv.

A 6 blink SOS shutdown, you would want to be looking at the SC, SU and the SD boards. One of those boards is causing the malfunction. Possibly, but unlikly(I have to mention it for just in case reasons) the PDP panel could have blown those boards.

Just out of curiosity, what was the original problem that made you call the first repair guy?

The 7 blinks means that the SC scan drive board might need to be replace but only after checking the voltages from the power supply. If the voltages from the power supply are normal, then proceed to replace the SC scan board.
