Doesn't start and shows "Failure..." on display

After taking the UPS to the nearest Technical Support aviable, they changed the batteries and returned the equipment with the new batteries uncharged. After charging the batteries as supposed (and widthout unplugging the UPS from the socket), I try to turn on the UPS but it doesn't provides power. Also, displays "Failure..." on the display. Any suggestions? Is there any start-up sequence that i should know about? Thanks a lot !!

Hi, a couple of things you can do but may I first suggest you bring it back to the Technical Support people who replaced the battery and voice your issue. The new battery might have to be replaced (don't be surprised) and you may have certain warranty claims that may be void if you try opening the UPS yourself. If for some reason you want to do it yourself, then you have to open the UPS and check the circuitry including the new battery. You need to be familiar with the use of a multitester (VOM), working with HOT circuits and general electronics. You have to start with any fuses, circuit breakers, relay, SCRs, transistors, etc. If you are not that comfortable doing so, guess were back to the first paragraph. Hope this be of some help. Good luck

When the system is running you need to set the date and time. or set it in the BIOS. Access to the bios varies from board to board but is usually "f2", "del" or sometimes "f10" the relevant button is displayed on the splash screen. The reason it auto starts can be cahnged in the BIOS as well.

Here is the 9120 documentation page but Eaton generally does not publish circuit diagrams for smaller UPSs like this. Some people may be technical enough to take a UPS apart but most aren't and it can be very dangerous. I suggest you contact the Eaton hardware support forum.

Did your UPS display "Battery disconnected" or did it display "Battery Failure"? If it was "Battery Failure", for some reason the Powerware 9120 will take almost 18 hours after plugging in to power after battery replacement to correct the Battery Failure indication. Charger has to charge up the batteries, followed by an automatic battery test by the UPS. If the indication was "Battery Disconnected", you will need to check the internal fuses to see if they are blown. If the UPS keeps blowing fuses, it will require a board repair.

Sir, My PC is starting problem, 1.Starting UPS - ON the system starts automatically without swith ON. 2.After Starting the keyboard & Mouse get stuck 3.after Restart the the keyboard & Mouse...

The UPS may not be sufficiently stable on power-on to run a PC immediately.

Try going into the BIOS setup after the restart and look for the option that has the computer "Start up automatically after power failure." Turn this off. That will take care of problem 1.

If this also takes care of problem 2, you may want to check whether the UPS has a problem. Start by plugging a couple of lamps with 100 Watt bulbs into the UPS outlets instead of the computer. Turn it on - the lamps should behave normally, not flicker or change brightness. With the lamps and UPS still on, unplug the UPS. The lamps should stay on with little or no change, and the battery warning light should not come on right away. If the UPS fails this test, its battery may need to be replaced or it has a regulator problem.
