Question about Grohe 24'' Relexa Shower Bar with Swivel Hand Shower Holder - 28666/Choose

Grohe 24'' Relexa Shower Swivel Hand Shower Holder broke!

The acrylic shower head holder on the slider bar of my new (less than one year old!) 24" Grohe Relaxa Shower bar broke so now I can't hang up the shower head on the bar and must hold it in my hand to take a shower. It was made of acrylic instead of metal and I could see stress fractures in it after only one month and have been looking for a replacement since then. Now that it has completely broken I need a fix immediately. Thanks!!

The acrylic is OK for light and gentle use, IMO.. As I recall, we have NOT had any problem, we are on the second one, which is several years old), BUT, that does not mean that the acrylic is not junk.... IMO, what does need to be improved is the design.

The Epoxy putty is like working with clay. Just use glove when kneading the putty.

Install grohe shower bar

After removing from wall by unscrewing long screws after removing cap, look inside and you will see a white translucent plastic with 4 wide, flat hooked ends. Take a small screwdriver and gently push each 4 plastic hooked ends and it will come unhooked from the small groove. Push it far enough that the bar will slide out. No need to remove the plastic hooked piece. To replace, push in each hooked end and push in from the opposite end to reinstall.

I have a Grohe 28917 Relexa Ultra Five 24 Inch Shower Set, and it is not mounted well to the wall so that it is loose. Also, the slide bar also goes up and down too easily. Can you help me?

the 2 mountings have caps on them, pop them off to get to the screws. If the plugs in the wall are busted you can use spring toggle bolts and it will give you a very strong mounting. Just don't over tighten to the point that you damage the wall.

The slide bar may need rubber cleaned since soap scum will make it slippery. Do this while you have the bar off the wall.

We installed a Grohe Relaxa Plus 10 years ago.

Likely a blockage in the line. Corrosion or other damaged parts. Try cleaning the filter screen first. Check for normal water flow without the shower unit attached to the spout. If OK, then the unit is the issue.

Leak where Grohe shower head attached to the threaded pipe

Hello, Many shower heads have similar problems. (Very frustrating as you now know) The problem is the threads at the end of the (cheap plastic) shower neck are not flat. They are tapered (has an edge) - so it does not seat flush with the base of the shower head. Actually cuts around the rubber washer causing a leak.

What to do about it?

File the end of the neck some to create a flat surface. However, go slow. Be sure you can still screw on the shower head. Add a flat rubber washer in the shower head and plumbers tape on neck threads too.

Or Purchase a new shower neck that has a better design. The neck should unscrew from the front. Check and make sure you have an access behind the shower just in case you need to access the plumbing.

I replace the shower neck myself if there is an access.
