Re: Playstation 3 defective cooler
If the defective cooler is one of the cooling mechanisms within the console, send it back to SONY for repair. If it is one of those add-on cooling fans, send it back to the retail store in which you purchased it.

Just like anything else that is mass produced there are sometimes defective parts. The disc that it was made from could have a defect in it. I would suggest taking the game back to the store and exchanging it for another. Most stores will let you exchange with a receipt. And don't worry about your saved game data it will still be there!
this is a common problem with PS3's the blue ray player has most likly gone out...
one thing you can try is to reset your playstation software/OS. you can do this from the settings meu. just make sure you have moved all of your files off the playstation since you will loss them on the reformat part of it. also if this does not bring it back then your looking at a hardware issue and the cheapest way to take care of it is to send it to sony on there referb program. $150.00 and they send you another playstation on the referb exchange program.
Make sure all of the wires are connected properly. If everything is hooked up correctly, call Playstation's support number and get them to troubleshoot with you on the phone. Otherwise, you may have to go exchange it for another one because that one is defective.
Your system needs servicing. A very few PS3 have the system get hot enough to trigger a soldering issue that leaves the system in this state. If it's under warranty, your cheapest bet is to send it to Sony, If you bought it from EB Games or Gamestop with a valid warranty, you may be able to exchange it for a refurbished unit.
