Thank for contacting Fixya, I will be glad to assist you.Can you provide me what version of Mac OS X you are using? If unsure how to check the version on your Mac portable, just click the black Apple menu icon located in the upper left corner of your screen and select "About This Mac"the version you have on your Macbook Pro, will be in a window like this and will show up right under the big bold Mac OS X title.Let me know when you can, so I can work to assist you with your Canon 550D photo issue with your Macbook Pro.Thank you.Regards,-The MacTechTrainer

There is an easy way of doing that avoiding most software issues and that is to buy an Eye-Fi SD card, its is an SD card that uses an existing wireless network to connect and download photos to your computer. The best part is no cables! You can find them on amazon or eBay easily, here is their website so you can find out more. Hope this helps.

I want to connect a Canon ZR 800 using firewire to my MacBook Pro.

To connect your Canon ZR 800 camcorder to your MacBook Pro using a Firewire connection, you will need a Firewire cable and a Firewire port on your computer. Here are the steps you can follow to connect your camcorder to your MacBook Pro:
  1. Locate the Firewire port on your MacBook Pro. It is usually located on the side or back of the computer and is marked with a symbol that looks like a small lightning bolt.
  2. Connect one end of the Firewire cable to the Firewire port on your MacBook Pro.

  4. Connect the other end of the Firewire cable to the Firewire port on your camcorder.
  5. Turn on your camcorder and set it to playback mode.
  6. Open the video editing software on your MacBook Pro and choose the option to import video from a Firewire device.
  7. Follow the prompts in the software to import the video from your camcorder.

Where do you put photo memory card in macbook pro

MacBook Pros before late 2009 contain no SD card slot for the photo memory card to be inserted into. Instead, leave the memory card in the camera, attach the camera via a USB cable and wait for the card to show up on the desktop.

Can't insert eos 30d cd in new macbook pro...need to find software so I can upload photos, but can't find anything...

You don't need any special software to use your camera.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Try using Canon's software. Digital Photo Professional that came with your camera. If it works here then your problem is NOT your camera but your computer, usually software.

Recently purchased a Canon 550D and when previewing an image on the camera, it appears fine. After switching it on and off, the image appears as a small version with "Can not display preview". ...

you maybe taking shots in raw which is fine but depending on what OS you have and computer hardware might mean your pc is struggling to open them. might want to check your photo resolution settings by pressing menu button and on the first list you should see the quality mode your using try taking shots in jpeg see if that helps.

if its already taking photos in jpeg then i highly recommend downloading picasa as it has an excellent photo viewer which you can enable as your default photo viewer. opens raw and jpeg photos no problem.

Hi Sam,
This is what may be happening. First of all, that is a EXCEPTIONAL camera. Getting a lot of noise in a photo would signify a defective CCD or a component within the imaging circuit having failed. IT'S NOT YOU.
Solid State Electronics, and digital cameras definitely fall into that category, if they are going to fail, will fail within the first 90 days or so. Good rule of thumb. If they get past that point, they will usually go for many years without a failure, if taken care of.
It appears to me that this one slipped through quality control cracks of Canon.
I would contact Canon's customer support for an exchange.

1. With the camera on and in playback mode, plug the cord from the camera into the Macbook. It should appear on the desktop as a drive, probably called "no name". If it doesn't, don't worry...the next solution always works and it's the one the pros use anyway. 2. Get a card reader and use it to download to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can import the pics to iPhoto.
