Hi,bike guy, thanks for your reply. the camera works fine in auto mode but to use any of the other 3 modes constant pressure has to applied to the switch to maintain that mode selected. i belive its a mechanical problem and not electronic. 3cats.

Unless you are familiar with digital products, you really don't want to take your camera apart. I am curious as to what is wrong with the camera.

Low beeping and non reading by macbook pro all of a sudden - HD seagate 1.5TB, worked fine for almost two years then non read by computer - help - tons of photo needed from HD

Hi, please anyone feel free to register on the site that the link takes you to so you can see the thread, it shows a link from You Tube on how to take the Seagate apart so anyone with the problem with the unit just making beep sounds and not being reconized by their P.C.
As all the threads i saw like my 1st thread reporting about my friends Seagate FreeAgent Desk 500GB asking about his problem and no-one was getting replies, and they where getting frustrated, I decided to find out. Someone has replied to my other thread with the same answer as taking it apart and connecting it to a P.C. So to help others who need their important files from the external HardDrive I have made a step by step guide so even novice P.C. users like myself can attempt to sort it out without being charged loads $-£ etc.. It seems unfair for all these users to buy something new and with in 1 week - 2 months it fails and they have important files etc.. stuck on the HardDrive and being charge to retrieve it. I'm not looking to cause any trouble just want to help others out. http://www.yo-lid.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t?=84 You will find the thread in 'Technical ' under 'General Technical Issues ' please let me know how you get on thanks.

Can anyone help please. i have an ixus 500 and it appears to have a stuck shutter. i cannot get anything on the screen when taking pictures however i can view other cf cards on it, so the screen is ok. is...

Hi, the IXUS 500 is not overly known for having shutter problems, although it is likely that the shutter drive mechanism is faulty.

Should your camera still be under warranty then it would be advisable to return it to the retailer, subject to lack of damage, which will ensure a thorough fix and check of the complete camera.

Should the camera be out of warranty then it is worth obtaining a free quote from a camera repair shop. This will provide you with a better understanding as to the viability of getting the camera repaired.

If either option is a non-starter, then you may get a return on you initial purchase by advertising the camera as a 'spare or repair' on EBAY. This will at least provide a deposit towards a replacement item.

How do I open Kodak easyshare 500?

When you lift up the back you need to disengage the ribbons and wires. There are clips the lock it in place then it pulls out.. Once you flip it all the way over the piece comes apart. You will need to also unscrew the ground wire. I'm still working on taking apart the mechanism underneath. Seems tricky.

Replacing screen on Olympus IR-500

I would suggest this is not going to be a viable task. at any level You taking it to pieces and then finding replacement parts. Contact Olypus for advice My guess is that a 'repair' will be near the cost of replaceing the camera. Photo stores [such as Jessops here in the UK] seel Screen protection material. this is like a heavy duty self adhesive tape- which can be cut to size for your screen. That I suggest is a low cost fix.
