Hi,
Insert the enclosed software cd into your computer.
Follow the instructions on the computer screen to install the software. If the software does not load automatically, browse the cd and open the Read Me folder for further instructions.
Connect the small end of the USB to the USB jack on the back of the unit.
Connect the other end to a USB port on your computer.
On your computer open the Record Recording software.
For instructions on operating the Record Recording software, browse the software cd and open the Read Me folder.

I got that from the manual. You don't need a separate USB driver for it, mate, but you DEFINITELY need the cd...

Hoping you have the cd,

Chris (ziraffa)

I replaced my needle on my Crosley CR249. Now, there is a lot of static. Any idea what to check next!

The diamond tip on the needle is most probably been damaged. Check the tip for any significant visual issues with a magnifying glass.

My Crosley CR249 power light will turn on for a second and then fade black. Has anyone had this same problem and know how to fix it? Please ad thank you!

My guess would be a power supply problem. It could be that one or more of the smoothing capacitors is not charging up right. These are the large electrolytic capacitors located in the power supply section. They will stand out. There could be one or more of them with a rating of over 2,000UF. They will need to be replaced.

CR249 sounds noisy

I don't think it's the cartridge, but if you want to replace it to see if it does correct the problem, by all means do. If it doesn't you just have a spare.

Intermittent faults are hard to solve. Some are caused by bad soldering. Most are caused by a faulty semi-conductor - transistor or IC, which sometimes overheats. If the noise starts up after playing the unit for a while, a hot part could be the cause. If the noise is in both channels then the cause is something common to both channels, perhaps the power supply. However some IC's have both channels going into them, so one of them could cause the problem.
A overheating part is easy to find for when the unit is switched off, you can touch the parts inside. This will reveal that a part will be still hot to the touch (don't burn yourself). Some parts will get hot, but anything that's really hot and meant to be will have an heat sink on them. Any part very hot (with no heat sink) to the touch will be faulty no-doubt.

Where do I find a replacement belt for cr249

You need to measure the diameter and thickness of the belt in mm. Please make a note of how the belt fits before removing it. You can search for the belt by putting the measurements into Google they don't have to be spot on!

Sounds like you need a new platter. Has the platter worked OK before or has it always been like this?
I suspect you might have to contact Crosley to see who supplies parts.
