Aaaa MORE replies! I will respond to all of them after trying them but for now, I can already reply to Brian. Will get back to all ya soon Thanks a mill :-)

This KB number stays the same Arthur. It's always 50050008 when I try to update Windows. Badi, there are no installed updates listed as I recently uninstalled all temporary traces or records of updates through a clean up programme of mine. Thanks for alerting me to this. I won't do that again as this is surely what has cased the problem. Windows doesn't have a record of what has been installed as updates. Not sure if there are any other causes but this must be one of them. Any other ideas of how to recover those or work around this?

Chris, thank you but that page has been deleted. THe message when going there says so. Are there any other sources to get hold of that fix please?

  • Warren Oct 03, 2012

Ok Budi ... I tried uninstalling KB929777 another way. I did thisfrom the cmd prompt: wusa.exe. It came up with an error: Installer encountered an error: 0x8000ffff Catastrophic failure. lol Sounds DREADFUL! hahaha. Nothing has changed /uninstall /kb:976932

  • Warren Oct 03, 2012

I'm not sure if I understood your KB question Arthur. I have run and installed a lot of KB numbers myself to try fix this through the Microsoft Fit It Centre. Do you want a list of them? None of them have worked.

Use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue and then replace the file.

Type the following command and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow
The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Testimonial: "Hi Brian I found another wonderful solution to these sorts of problems. Just download a torrent file that has all the current service packs and updates already included. I knopw it isn't quite legitamate but if you have bought the product and their friggin updates msee things up, why spend hours and weeks sorting out the underlying system when it should function and flow flawlessly. If you've paid, go get a pre-cracked version. It has wiped this problem from reoccurring."

SOURCE: vista windows installer service corrupt

Download Installer manually from Microsoft. Install per instructions. Vista requires the "6.0" installer, as docs indicate.

Are you sure it's the Installer, though?, Are there event log entries that relate to the failures?

How to fix windows update Windows 7

Run complete system scan using MBAM (Malwarebytes Antimalware) and remove all the threats that it founds. If that didn't addressed the issue, consider following steps mentioned in the tutorial below:

Be sure to disable your anti-virus protection before checking for updates. This very well may be your problem.
or

I suggest changing the settings of your automatic updates as that may trigger it to do this for you.

Then disable any other programs that you can by right-clicking the icon in the system tray (next to the time, bottom-right corner of monitor) and selecting 'exit' or 'quit' or something like that.

If you are having a lot of trouble, you can get ahold of Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/protect/compute... too.

To change any settings related to Microsoft Update, go to http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security... .

Besides that, I recommend erasing the cookies and internet data. Click START > CONTROL PANEL > INTERNET OPTIONS. Then in the 'general' tab, click DELETE and erase all of the cookies and temporary internet files and such.

If that doesn't work, try rebooting your machine and tap F8 until you get the boot selection menu. Select "Windows Safe Mode with Networking". Try to go online again and see if you can download updates with that configuration.

If it still doesn't work, you can try disabling your browser add-ons that are installed in Internet Explorer. To do this, click START > ALL PROGRAMS > CONTROL PANEL. Open up INTERNET OPTIONS.

Click the GENERAL tab (if not open). Under "Browsing history", click DELETE... and then DELETE ALL. Put a check next to "Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons.". Click YES.

While still in the Internet Properties dialog box, click the SECURITY tab. At the bottom of the window, click RESET ALL ZONES TO DEFAULT LEVEL.

Now click the PRIVACY tab. Click the DEFAULT button (unless you are unable to). There is a good chance that it may be unavailable, meaning that you are currently at the recommended privacy settings already.

you might have to many programs trying to or accessing your computer or the internet at the same time or a virus
scroll to bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click select task manager

applications you will see whats running
if you see anything you dont need running select end now and you might uninstall that specific

program if you or computer does not require it to run and
some unnecessary programs that could be jamming up your computer

also under processes see what is ticking over in the background again if you see something you

dont need to be running select end now

Hi!! How are u? My english not good that much but i will try to explain my problem: when iam open my computerwhich work by windows xp sp3 i got massage the ip operator (3.0208.911.01) is not...

OK, sounds like the problem is that the computer cannot get a valid IP address. In fact it sounds like you might have a IP address conflict on your network. Each IP address on a network segment must be unique.

Check if you are using DHCP.

  • Go to
  • Control Panel
  • Network connections
  • Locate the network connection you are using e.g. 'Local area connection' or perhaps 'Wireless connection'
  • Right click on the relevant network connection
  • Select 'Properties'
  • Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  • Select Properties
Is your machine set to "Obtain an IP address automatically" (DHCP) or "Use the following IP address".
If its "Use the following IP address" then make sure no other machines are also using this IP address. You can try setting to 'automatic' but if you do, make sure that you note all details first, so you can revert back to the settings you currently have if you need to.
if its "Obtain an IP address automatically" then make sure no other machines have been manually set.

With regards to the microsoft update, then your best bet is to only select a small number of updates at a time, until you determine which update(s) is causing the failure. Once you know which update is the problem then you can troubleshoot the specific update.

Hope this helps

I have error codes 663 & 80070490 so windows update when I install fails also laptop is a little slow

These error codes mean that your operating system is corrupt or "broken" you will need to repair windows. Do you have the windows disk that came with your computer? if not try this fix from Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
this might fix enough to get updates working again
if not try deleting the update records that are on your system
c:/windows/system32/windowsupdate
this file is a notepad file delete everything in the file and then save.
when it asks you to over right the file click yes and the restart your machine and try to update
