Question about Vivitar (1607225) Telescope

1 Answer

Can't See anything with Vivitar telescope

I also was stupid enough to buy a Vivitar Telescope for my grandson. Like everyone else, we cannot see ANYTHING through the telescope using either lense - close up or far away. Upon doing some research as to why I couldn't find a Vivitar website, I found they sold to another company who filed bankruptcy and sold to another company. None of the companies mentioned in the following article have web sites. I'm afraid we are all out of luck unless the store takes it back where we purchased it. Here is the article I found:

"Vivitar Corporation was a manufacturer, distributor and marketer of photographic and optical equipment originally based in Oxnard, California. In November 2006, the corporation was purchased by public company Syntax-Brillian Corporation for US $26 million in stock and was operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary.[1] On August 21 2008, subsequent to its filing for bankruptcy, parent company Syntax-Brillian completed the sale of the Vivitar brand name and intellectual property to privately held consumer electronics maker Sakar International based in Edison, New Jersey. Sakar did not purchase Vivitar’s equipment, facilities or accounts receivable. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.[2]"

We have tried it during the day and night. We are 50 year old adults with a piece of JUNK! It does NOT work. PERIOD!

Agree w/ the previous comment. My 5 year old son received this telescope for Christmas & I have been unable to focus it. Terrible waste of time, funds. Nothing like exchanging hard earned funds for trash from China.

Thanks Vivitar for coordinating this exchange.

Put the lowest power eyepiece in the telescope-- that's the one with the LARGEST number on it.

Go outside and practice focusing on a distant object at least 100 yards away.... turn the focus know very slowly.
