have you checked that there are no disks in the drives. If the bios is set to boot from floppy, cdrom etc... and you have a disk in the drive then it will not be able to pick up the system files

The drive is fine. Run Acronis Disk Directory, or the GNU Parted LiveCD. Resize your partition so that the end is not at the end of the disk.

This error means there is probably something wrong with the drive itself. I would reccomend having the hard drive replaced. Was the computer new or used?

Blue Screen doesn't load Operating System. I beleive there is a software conflict when my daughter downloaded an application she needed for university

If you are getting 'Uncorrectable data Error or Media' for your internal hard drive then it is likely that you have a disk problem rather than a software conflict caused by anything your daughter downloaded.
If the Dell diagnostics provide no solution, then you would need to use a specialist boot CD to try to repair the disk errors. One such disk is Hiren's Boot CD which can be downloaded as a CD image file (.ISO) from http://www.hirensbootcd.org/ then would need to be burnt on to a blank CD then the laptop booted from this CD.
On the initial Hiren's boot menu, select DOS programs, then select Disk tools before selecting HDAT2 to perform the disk repair actions.
HDAT2 can take some time to complete depending on the size of your internal disk drive and the number of bad sectors or other errors encountered - the tool will attempt to repair bad sectors by reading, verifying, writing and re-reading / verifying the data.
If the disk can be recovered, then you may be lucky and the system will be able to boot but otherwise, you may still need to do some further recovery work for the operating system, in which case you may need your Windows install or recovery CD media.

Toshiba satellite A135 At the power on disk read error comes on & says press ctrl+alt+del to restart, but after restarting, the same reading comes on!

Disk read error is, most likely, a bad hard drive. Seeing this message means that the operating system (Windows) didn't even get a chance to load before running aground. This model uses 2.5" SATA drives and 80G is the smallest size ever sold. You can probably get a replacement drive (new or used) locally or thru eBay or Amazon, and they should be pretty cheap (new ones should run for about 20 cents to 25 cents per gig. That'd be your best bet.

Hi. Every time I turn my Toshiba Satellite Laptop on (A305-S6905) it turns on normal then it goes to this black screen and says "A disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart." I...

The disk read error message appears when the motherboard can't read what is in the hard disk and use it to launch the Windows boot process.
It means that the hard disk is dead and everything on it is lost, including the recovery partition that new laptops use instead of the recovery disks. You will have to replace the hard disk (a quite complicated job that only an experienced person should do) then order a recovery disk from here
https://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/serviceUnitVerification.jsp
and use it to reinstall Windows.

Old machine, trying to rehab for daughter. Turn on, seet Toshiba screen, then see "Disk read error, cntrl+alt+del to reboot"

You have one of two problems. Either your operating system crashed and you will need to get windows reinstalled on the computer or your hard drive crashed.
If the hard drive crashed you will need to replace the hard drive first and then also reinstall windows.
In both cases it is needed to reinstall windows.
This is probably something a computer technician should take care of.

I have a Toshiba Satellite U505 pc laptop that was working earlier today. I was in the middle of showing a video to a friend when it just shut down. I turned it on again and the Toshiba screen showed up...

My guess is that the disk-drive inside the computer has "died".
So, the copy of Windows cannot be read from the disk-drive.
So, all you get is the blinking-cursor.

Take your computer (and the original "System Restore" disks) and your power-adapter to a qualified technician, for trouble-shooting, and probable replacement of the disk-drive, and reinstallation of Windows.

If you want it free, you may have to download a copy of windows from a torrent site like isoHUNT, then download your drivers from toshiba.
If you download the same version of windows that was installed, you may be able to use the COA windows key on your laptop
