Question about Nintendo Wii Console

Wii light is on but the Wii won't function.

When I turn on my Wii the green power light turns on and the TV screen flickers as if the Wii has actually turned on but the screen remains black and nothing happens, and the Wii remotes don't respond. I've tried this on 2 TVs so the TV isn't the problem.

I have the exact same problem. My Wii is brand new with only 4 hrs of playtime on it. During a game the screen froze and made a loud "errrrrrrrr" type sound. Ever since I have had the same problem that KingRanter is having. Should have gone with the X-Box 360 I guess.

Something I forgot to mention, the eject button still works and I can still remove and insert discs normally.

Try the Wii "RESET".
Here's how:
1. Unplug the Wii for at least 5 minutes.
2. Plug it back in.

Are you useing the 480p or the 480i cables. the cables that came with the wii should work on most tvs, the one with three wires, yellow, red and white. the aftermarket wires have five wires green, red, blue and two that are different than the others that are red and white. i had the same problem with the 480i cable for color video. hope this helps....good luck..

Reset the AC adapter by following steps below.

1. Unplug the Wii AC adapter at both ends (from the back of the
Wii system and from the wall outlet or power strip).

2. After you've waited a full 2 minutes, plug the AC adapter back in on both ends and check to see if the power light comes on.

Power light is green or orange - TV screen is blank
If the power light is green or orange and your screen remains blank, follow these steps.

My Wii has a red light when plugged in, and a green one while turned, on, the problem is, nothing is displayed on the tv or heard, also, the disk drive whirrs for a few second after turning on. The tv...

If the light is red, it means WiiConnect24 is turned off. Green means the system is turned on and it's normal for the Wii to whirr a bit when it's initially turned on.
Completely power down your system by pressing the power button for 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, unplug the AC Adapter from the Wii for a moment, then plug it back in.
That said, Nintendo recommends calling them if this doesn't fix your problem. Hope this helps.

Wii has started turning itself on with blue light displaying.

If your Wii does not actually turn on, as in you could see it on the TV if you had your TV on, then you either got a message on your message board from Nintendo informing you about new Channels, Updates, etc, if it flashes slowly, then gives 2 quick flickers then it is a system update.
Hope this answers your question! ~Flascher

Power is on but screen is black

I found this [temporary] solution at http://www.wiierror.com/wii-black-screen.php:

(via email, thanks Steven) This happened to me once, but I fixed it. Here is how:
Eject the disk
Unplug the wii at the back
Wait 1 minute
Plug it back in
Turn it on from the remote
Press reset if it does not show up
Hold the power button to shut it off
Turn it on once more.
I don't know how, but it seemed to work for me. The problem happened when I was trying to load the Mii channel. Hope this helps !

(via email, thanks Andrew)
The first time I shut down my Wii, the light went orange (as it should). When I turned on the power with my wii remote the next day, the wii\'s light turned green but the screen was black.
The treatment was the same as from Black Screen, No Connection: Unplug the Wii\'s power supply unit, then replug; turn system on with wii remote.
The difference is: this problem can strike in more places than just by loading the Mii Channel. Also, I think the green light being on (yet there being a black screen) is a common symptom as well.
