After setting your route hit the bar with the wrench and bolt
then you can hit the volume control
then go back to that screen and hit more settings
you will see speed limit hit that
it will pull up at screening giving you options--hit the one you want

I know that my husband had to find this change because it was driving him crazy.

hope this works for you

I do not see the speed limit on the screen while driving. Will the device beeps or bongs if I go over the speed limit?

It will make no noise, beep bong or otherwise, not all roads will display speed limits, so you have the lastest Garmin software and Map update package, if not download it at www.mygarmin.com.

Garmin 1300; Can't get speed limit of street/road but do get speed that I a going. Why? "theoldman5@yahoo.com" "817-992-6143" "Robert L Warner"

I had a nuvi 205 for a while and it showed some of the speed limits. had a little sign that would pop up above the current speed. I "upgraded" to the 1300 and was surprised to see that feature missing. Actually, kinda mad, I really liked that function

IT TAKES TIME TO GET SIGNAL

GPS units with SIRF chipsets can acquire satellites in most cases in a minute or two - or less.

Factors that can delay acquisition time includes cold starts, distance between last shut down and current start up, internal or external antenna, limited view of open sky (due to tree cover, tall buildings and rock formations as in canyons, etc.) and speed of travel.

A few years ago, Garmin used SIRF chipsets nearly exclusively, but has since backed away from them in favor of their own which is probably cheaper than licensing the SIRF technology. Some people have no preference while others do.

Medion md 96820 mobile gps navigation system

I got mine last night and all works fine - even though I had to disconnect it and reconnect it to see the internal memory content (preloaded) on the flash drive of the GPS. Once I saw the maps and other data, the Drag & Drop of MP3's worked as expected (using XP). I set up Active Sync as a guest account. Love the unit so far. Easy to use and fast response.

Master vs. repeater confusion

The master/repeater selection is for the purpose of determining which display is in control of the waypoint and route database.

Turn on both units and let them boot up. Do not answer the master/repeater question until both are on. Then press "Set as master" on the preferred one.

The units remember individually if they were set as a master or repeater the last time they were on. If they are powering up to find themselves in a different configuration than they were previously in, that will prompt the whole master/repeater thing to happen.
