Blackberry rolling ball will not roll down

I have a blackberry world edition. It has worked fine for a year and all of a sudden, the ball will not allow me to scroll down, only up and sideways. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I have the same problem with my blackberry. After one year of working fine, the rolling ball will not roll down and I don't Know what to do. I was checking the manual but it did not help at all.

The roller ball doesn't work in my pearl either, I am so tired of not being able to use my very expensive phone because it won't work!

The roller ball in my phone does not work. The ball rolls but the cursor doesn't move. I have tried pressing hard and rolling it while it's off, I've tried canned air and nothing works.

Also, I can't send or receive emails from my yahoo account even though I set it up in the email wizard which means I also don't get facebook notifications because the connection is missing somehow.

Cleaning the track ball on blackberry phones. Remove the metal ring then the ball mechanism remember how you removed it because it needs to go in the same way. You can also try removing the battery from phone taking a qtip with alcohol the higher the percentage of alcohol the better. and wiping and rolling the ball around even without removing it from the phone. this usually helps unless the ball is extremely dirty. Below are step by step ins for removing the ball. just follow the link

My tracking ball has stopped working. Tried removing the battery while powered on, but it's still not working properly. Can move sideways but not up or down and can't retrieve messages.

All that is, is dirty. Just push it down a few times and try to roll it in a circle and dislodge what's stuck in it. Once you get it rolling free. Take a cotton swab, dip it in pure rubbing alcohol, not dripping, and rub it all over the ball, move the ball around and let it dry for like 3min. Your ball will be fixed and clean

Blackberry ball wont roll

If the track ball is stuck, there's something that's preventing it to roll. Cleaning it should be the solution, but you need to contact the manufacturer and have them clean it for you. Because that track ball is not easy to remove.

Thank you!

I can't scroll down with the rollerball

The balls on the blackberry's get clogged up with finger oil, skin, and all sorts of grime I think. But I fixed mine by shutting the phone down and then rubbing hard against the roll ball in each direction and pushing each time until the clicker under the roll ball clicked. You could also try alcohol.

Trackball on Blackberry Curve not working properly

I found that removing the track ball and cleaning the contact and track ball with a cotton swab moistened with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol, it worked a 100 percent better when I returned the ball to the handset. DO NOT SATURATE THE BALL OR THE HANDSET WITH THE ALCOHOL!! ONLY USE A VERY SMALL AMOUNT!!!!

Pearl roller ball

It might be a case where the track ball has some dirt or debris underneath it. First, turn the device off. Next, press down firmly on the track ball while at the same time rolling it in every direction. Hopefully that will knock loose any debris. Another tip to try is to wet your thumb with a little water and do the same thing.

If those two options don't work, you may try taking out the track ball and blowing out the slot with some compressed air. Below is a link that shows how to remove and clean the track ball:
