If its a Windows PC, you need to unplug the printer, Boot the computer in the Safe Mode, and remove the drivers (with the Device Manager). You might find duplicates. Remove them all.
Then reboot and install the drivers again, following the directions on the driver installer. Windows needs these extra steps.
Check your cables are in the correct positions., Turn the printer off and reboot your computer. Check the computer and see if it " finds" the printer. On the PC, press "start" look for and click on "printers and or accessories" Your printer should be displayed there. Click on properties. If the PC cant find it, I would say the cable is damaged or disconnected or the software for your printer has been deleted or failed. You may have to reinstall the software again.
Did you just install the software? if not then check your cables. If they are firmly attached thentry a different usb port on your computer. If that doesn't work then un-install the lexmark (not delete) and reinstall following directions. After Download make sure printer if off and usb cable is unplugged from the printer. Start the program and follow the diffections. But only connect when it tells you to do so.
are you using USB or LPT cable? if USB, check if it is only 1 meter long only or less. because if you're using too long cable, it will lost or poor communication from PC to Printer. if LPT cable, try going to command prompt and type c:\>dir >lpt1 if the test print done, there's a problem with your printer driver installed. another tip is try to change the printer cable which is molded type.
