Re: No picture but have sound and powers on

You probably have a leaking CRT (picture tube) as well. Don't overlook the issue before replacing the board otherwise you will burn a second one.

No picture or sound with a red flashing power light. Have replaced the convergence IC's but no change (do not have the chirpint sound). Removed main power board & green LED does not light up

On that model the conv IC is usually not the solution. I believe its the blown capacitor problem with is an easy fix. Check the site for a repair kit.

Tv with no picture. i just bought a new bulb but still flashing lamp and no picture.I can hear it click on but thats all

since you didn't get any picture, does the TV bring out sound? If the TV does not bring out sound, then it means the TV is having a power problem.

The clicking sound most of the time indicates a bulged capacitor on the power supply board of the TV. I think problem is with the power supply board and not the bulb.

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like ""(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress from

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

I believe it got some water dmg from water dripping from the ceiling. Can it be repaired? It makes a clicking sound when you turn it on, but it shows no picture.

That might be the ballast trying to ignite the lamp. You may have some serious problems. Have you tried replacing the lamp yet to make sure that ballast is good? If not, then you need to check the lamp then the ballast.

And also the power supply may be bad. You can open it up and take a look to see if the power supply has any blown capacitors too. A blown capacitor will look like an upside-down battery mounted to the board, but with a bulge out the top.

The tv makes a sizzling sound when you turn it on. No picture ever shows up and then it cuts back off.

You may have a bad Scanning Cap in the High Voltage Power supply, if so then check the neck of the picture tubes for cracks usually the green tube is affected by this. If one of these caps goes bad High voltage goes through the roof and cause a tube to crack at the neck. While turning on the set look for arching around the tubes, Also check the main deflection for burnt tracings around the HV scanning Capacitors, they are usually Square in shape and may be yellow or gray in color. IF the board is burnt then scraping the coating of the tracing and resoldering the pin to the board and then sealing it with rubber compound will usually work in this instant. Saving the time and money. This board can be sent for repair. as a new one is probably no longer Avaible.

HP 42" Plasma HDTV PL4260N power turns on/off but processor will not load. No picture, no sound. Unit did make a snap noise at the same time the picture went out.

Try to unplug the power of the unit for few hours. That will reset it. If the same problem still persists, you definitely need to open the TV casing to visually check defect electronic parts like fuse and the power supply board. If you believe that you cannot perform these steps, it's better to consult a pro TV technician or bring it to the nearest electronic service center.

It sounds like the coolant leaked from one or more of the projection tubes. You may need to replace the affected tube assemblies.

No picture

Lamps have been known to burn out the power supply to the DM assembly. If there is no visible damage to the lamp, your problem may be the power supply or the board. Good luck.

Toshiba 50H50: No picture or sound, red light blinks

On alot of these Toshiba TV sets, there is a fuse called F860 that will blow and the light will flash because of bad solder connections on C 810, and C 809, on the negitave terminal. I have seen many of these boards condemed by non-authorized Toshiba repair shops. Good Luck
