likely one wire to TH, the other to W if the thermostat operates on batteries. If the thermostat requires a 24 volt power source it is not compatible with your system.

Rth2310b wiring

More than likely, this is what you have:

Red- Power- (RC/RH)
White- Heat- (W)
Green- Fan- (G)
Blue- Cool- (Y)

Usually, the only times you need more than 4 wires are:

1. You have a HeatPump system.
2. Your new digital thermostat does not use batteries, which then you have to have a common wire to power the thermostat.

I just bought a Honeywell 5.2 Day RTH2300B Programmable thermostat to replace my old mercury thermostat for my gas fireplace. When I took of old thermostat it only has two wires. A white wire and a black...

I just installed a Honeywell 5.2 Day RTH2310B Programmable thermostat and I had to deal with the same situation: 2 wires, one white one black. After reading the edvice in one of the blog, the solution that worked for me was: BLACK ON Rc terminal and WHITE on W terminal. My furnace is running fine now. Hope it helps.

Hi! We have a really old williamson thermostat (not sure about the model but it says t87fi89i 2 8047 [dont know if it's i or 1 either]). We want to replace it with a honeywell t87n east-to-see thermostat....

On most applications for heating the red and white wires are used, however I would check what wires are connected to terminals on old thermostat. These connectons should be labled with initial of wire color, such as R,W,G,Y or Rc. If your green wire is hooked to R or whatever just hook new thermostat up like the old one and you should be ok. Hope this helps. Thanks.

I bought a honeywell ct3200 and not sure how to hook it up to a two wire system. The wires coming out wall are black and white

If you just have two wires coming from the wall then attach them to the terminals marked R (may say Rc and or Rh, usually has a jumper installed between the two) and W. Hope this helps

I bought new Honeywell non programmable, letters are different.

If you have a 5 wire thermostat then you have a two transformer system a cooling transformer and a heating transformer.
The cooling transformer wires to Rc - Y - G,
and the heating transformer wires to R - W the R terminal heating would be the #4 terminal from the old stat.
