That could be a number of things. Too much heat inside welder could also do this by creating more resistance in your leads. The easist place to start would be to take the cover off your welder and blow all the dust off your electronics so it has a way too cool properly. Make sure all power is disconnected before attempting this. Try this simple fix first. Any welding machine on the market can benefit from this simple preventative maintenance!
if you disasembled the phone to clean it, check the flex cable and see if it is all the way on, also use some epc (electrical parts cleaner) on all the contacts including the male and female ends of all the flex cable. this promotes proper connection of contacts. just be sure to completley blow dry it before sending a charge through the circuitry
you can delete the handset in the menu and go through the hanset registering with the other base as per the normal instructions (available on the Philips website).
