The VPC-S770R uses standard AA batteries. Chargers for rechargeable AA batteries should be available at just about any department, electronics, or office-supply store. Do NOT try to recharge non-disposable alkaline or lithium batteries. Also bear in mind that the camera itself is not a battery charger. If you want to use rechargeable batteries then they must be charged outside the camera using a separate battery charger.
Well, that was nearly double the voltage required for the camera. Usually you cant even plug in the wrong charger.
In this case, you may have destroyed the camera's battery. To test this, you can go to an electronics store for them to test, or you can purchase a replacement battery (hang on to the receipt) and if it does not work in the camera, you may return it. Be sure to ask someone in the store if they accept opened packages, explain the situation, and be sure that is within their return policy.
If the new battery does not operate the camera properly, it is entirely possible that you overpowered the camera beyond its tolerances and it would have to be repaired or replaced by Kodak.
sounds like a dead battery. Plug the origional charger into it and the front led (below the flash) should flash red. If the red led in the back of the camera flashes or stays lit, then you have the wrong charger plugged in. (the camera won't power up if the back red/green led is on when plugged in)
It sounds like Amazon might have sold you a defective charger radio shack has a universal charger for your battery. Around 49.00 I got one and it works great I would first have you battery tested by a place like batteries plus to make sure yours is good.
Sorry to say there are no user replaceable fuses anything to replace
yourself if you used the wrong AC adapter/charger on your Finepix 500
It's most likely the internal voltage regulator was blown out on the main power supply board inside.
If the camera is still under factory warranty or if you bought the
extended warranty you can get it repaired most likely for free
depending on the fine print of the warranty itself? Usually it covers
What was/is the normal voltage rating of the CORRECT charger that you
failed to use, and what is the voltage rating on the WRONG charger that
you used by mistake?
I might be able to decipher how much possible internal damage was done based on that?
