Pump motor makes loud noise when pump comes on

Capacitors don't make noise. The purpose of a capacitor, is to provide a jumpstart to assist the motor to begin spinning. What makes a pool motor noisy, is bad bearings. At one point or another is possible that your mechanical pump shaft seal had failed, and allow the water to enter the electric motor, and wash away the lubrication in the front bearing.

either replace the bearings or the motor.

I believe you have to remove the wet end and the impeller as well to get the motor completely apart.

if its whining but still spinning, the bearings are done. If it just makes a loud noise, the capacitor could be bad or the bearings have seized.

It sounds like the bearings are going bad on the motor. Does it make the same sound when it is running?

The first thing to check would be to make sure the power steering reservoir is not running near empty, locate the filler cap for the power steering pump it should be marked and then add the appropriate amount making sure you don't over fill, that may make the sound go away if not we must move on to the next possibility, by the way if the noise gets louder when you turn the steering wheel it is most likely the power steering pump or fluid level is low.

dear friend-the noise you hear comes from the power steering pump.if the fluid appeares to be pink,drian the system and clean out container.make sure there is no black visible in the tank.refill and try again.

Noise comes and goes sound like metal on metal not a belt squealing

Sounds like coupling gears between transmission and motor... they did away with the belt and went direct drive with coupling gears. It can pump water out but nothing else. water pump is mounted to front of motor is why it will pump water out.
