Question about Plantronics Explorer 340 Wireless Headset

1 Answer

Plantronics 330 no longer pairs with Blackberry 8310.

When I try to pair my 330 Plantronics to my 8310 Blackberry I se the bluetooth symbol that normally indicates that the Plantronics has successully connectd to the Blackberry, but I hear nothing.
Furthermore, when I push 'Transfer Address Book' I get the message that "Unable to locate Object Push Server"
The other interesting thing is that I also get another message saying that the Blackberry is still waiting for the 3xxx and this is desoite the fact that the Blackberry also says that they are connected!
Normally the 330 connects easily and reliably to the Blackbery but as of yesterday it has decided to be difficult - any help will be most appreciated.

I believe that the bluetooth symbol that you see indicates that bluetooth is enabled on your Blackberry, not that you are connected to a device (at least that's how mine works).

Here are some suggestions:

First, if you are on BES, check with IT to make sure no changes were made (they can block bluetooth).

Next, make sure you are using the most current software. It should be: v4.5.0.108. If you are using an older version, definitely update your software because the 8310 is known to have bluetooth issues.

Do you see your headset listed on "paired devices"? If so, I suggest that you delete it before upgrading the software.

Once your headset is no longer listed (or if it wasn't in the first place), re-connect it to your Blackberry as follows (apologies if you already know this part):

1. Re-set your headset:
Turn the headset off.

Press and hold down the control button.
After 6-10 seconds, the light will flash blue, then it will flash red, then blue.
Release the button when you see the red/blue.

2. On your Blackberry:

Open "Options"
Open "Bluetooth"
Open menu within Bluetooth
If not already on, click "Enable Bluetooth"
Open Bluetooth menu again.
Open "Options".
Turn "Discoverable" to "Yes"

Open the Bluetooth menu a 3rd time.
Click on "Add Device".
Your Blackberry will search for your headset.
If you are prompted for a Passkey, use 0000 (that's 4 zeros).
After a short time, your headset will appear on your Blackberry.
It should appear as Plantronics 3xxx.

Make sure you go back into Bluetooth Options and change "Discoverable" back to "No".

Once you have established a new connection with upgraded software, you should have no trouble with "Transfer Address Book".

Hope this solves your problem.

My blackberry bold phone does not locate my Plantronics VBH-300 bluetooth headset whilst trying to pair them. It was paired with a previous nokia phone, which I no longer have.

Hi,you will have to delete the previous paired phones first before you can be able to pair the blackberry phone with your blue tooth device.

You can use the below steps to know how to pair properly:

Instructions

Pair Your Blackberry with a Bluetooth Headset

Turn on Bluetooth headset and Blackberry hand-held.

Enable the Bluetooth radio by going to the options window and clicking on Bluetooth. Click on Enable Bluetooth in that window.

Add your Bluetooth headset to your Blackberry by clicking on Add Device in the Bluetooth window.

Find and select the name of your Bluetooth headset from the list that appears. The Blackberry will search for all Bluetooth devices within range, so other devices might show up on the list.

Click Activate Bluetooth device if you receive a call and the Bluetooth headset does not pick up automatically.

Use your Bluetooth Headset with your Blackberry

Make sure the Bluetooth radio on your Blackberry is turned on before you try to use your Bluetooth headset.

Use the voice-dial feature to call contacts if your headset has that capability. Not all headsets support voice dialing, but more of the newer models do.

Press the on/off button on your headset to end a call or use the end button on the handheld.

Tips & Warnings

Pair your Blackberry with any Bluetooth-enabled device using the same steps as those for connecting a Bluetooth headset.

Remove your Bluetooth headset from the list of paired devices on your Blackberry by selecting and clicking on Delete Device in the Bluetooth window.

Configure your Blackberry to connect to a paired Bluetooth headset without asking for authorization in the Bluetooth Device Properties window. That will allow your headset to automatically reconnect even if you take it out of range temporarily.

Only configure a Bluetooth headset to your Blackberry once. Once you configure the pairing between the two devices, the settings are saved and you do not have to repeat the processes each time you use it.

Turn off the Bluetooth radio on your Blackberry when not in use for security reasons.

Adjust volume on your headset or hand-held to a comfortable level. Excess volume from in-the-ear headsets can cause hearing damage.

Hope it helped.

Thanks for usingf ixya..

How to connect plantronics 330 bluetooth headset with my iphone 4

When joining (or pairing) a Plantronics bluetooth headset to another device a lot depends on the other device. Assuming that you know the necessary steps of your phone or PC for connecting a bluetooth device, all Plantronics headsets pretty much follow a set pairing procedure for connectivity. This one is for the Discovery 975:

1 Turn on the Bluetooth feature on your phone.
2 Turn the earpiece on. Press and hold the call control button until the indicator flashes red/white.
3 Use the commands on your phone to locate and select your earpiece. 9xx Plantronics.
4 If prompted for the PIN code or Passkey, enter 0000.

Pairing is successful when the indicator on your earpiece flashes white.

Note If your phone supports Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you will not need to enter a PIN code or Passkey.

Need to reset plantronics explorer 330 because it might to connected to a phone i no longer have and im trying to connect it to a new phon. or, if there is an alternate solution to this problem, any advice...

This is probably far too late now, but I'll post it for future reference. You first shut off your 330 then restart it, but continue holding it for around 8-10 seconds (usually it takes less than that) and the headset will start flashing blue and red.
You are now in Pairing mode a.k.a. reset mode. While it is flashing, tell your phone to start looking for Bluetooth devices and when it displays "3XX-Plantronics" (or something similar), you know you have the right thing.
Simply select that and enter the default factory code: 0000 and you now reset and paired the headset!
