Question about HP OfficeJet 7310 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Fast draft printing and 'normal' printing are the same

If I set my printer to print on 'fast draft' it is quicker than on 'normal' but is the same density of ink.  I have tried to adjust to levels to 'light' but this makes no difference.  Please help as I am using far too much ink and I don't want the page to be s dark.

When you click to print something, you will get what's called the Print Dialogue box. Before clicking "OK", click the Properties button.26849353-6c28-4abb-ab9c-b5e445a1b08b.jpgThis will take you to a screen with some tabs. Click on the Paper/Quality tab. Somewhere in that window you will see some options for "Print Quality".

By default, it is probably set to "Normal". That's the middle setting. To save ink, you can set it to Fast Normal (better for ink saving) or Fast Draft (best for ink saving). This means the printer will use less ink to print the page. The final copy will look a little lighter but certainly still readable.

This option "fast draft" will print very fast and also save your ink.

My photos print out grainy while looking perfect on screen

Check your print quality settings in the print driver. Typically they can be set for Normal, Best, or Fast. If it is set to Fast, pages will print quicker but will not look as good.

Not printing to fast draft

Make "fast draft" your default setting, otherwise, whenever you open a new document, it will print it in "normal mode".

It really prints so slow

Hi,
Try setting the printing properties to fast draft or draft. It provides a average quality document faster using less ink.
To do this, go to Start->Control Panel and then Printers. Right click on your printer and choose printing preferences. Find the setting for the quality and select Draft or Fast Draft if it is available.
Please note that this printer has a rate of 5.36 pages per minute, so even with the draft you will not see much difference.

nicolasiac

Won't scan, copy, or fax

You need to change the ink cartridge, the fact that it prints in fast draft is because it does not use as much ink to print as normal letter quality.

Printer wont print

Sometimes Excel 2003 will not print when the quality is set to "Fast Draft". Set the quality to "Fast Normal" or better in Control Panel->Printers->Your Printer Name->Preferences and it will work (at least my HP Deskjet D1455 does).
