Re: Ipaq H 3970 storeage card problem

Hello lenze123, Your Ipaq doesn't support cards larger then 1gb. I'm not shure that a ROM upgrade will fix this as larger cards require different voltage settings and firmware protocols. From the technical specifications of the h3970 it is stated that the pda will support only 1gb cards due to it's hardware configuration. A reset woun't help you on this. The only thing you could try is a ROM update to a later windows version, win2003 or 2003se, but even this may not solve the problem. If you need more informations please reply.

How can i format my memory stick in hp ipaq 6915

If you can remove the memory stick and you have a multi-card reader, then you can use a PC to format the memory stick. If you don't have a multi-card reader, you can buy one from [here].
  1. Insert the reader into a free USB port and wait for your PC to recognise it.
  2. If given the option, choose to view the folder, otherwise double click My Computer.
  3. Right click the icon that represents the memory stick (depending on your setup this may be labelled as drive E, F or G).
  4. Choose the Format option.
  5. A new window will appear, choose Quick Format and your memory stick will be formatted.
WARNING! This will wipe the entire contents of your memory stick, so please remember to take a backup first.

IPAQ 6515 doesn't recognize new HP 8Gig SD card

Your 8 Gig card is a SDHC (HC=High Capacity) Card. All HC cards use a different format, which the 6515 can't use...

The biggest capacity the 6515 can use is 4 gig on the SD and 2 gig on the mini SD.

My 4g Transcend card and 2g Sandisk cards have been faultless for about 2 years now.

Sorry, but the 8 gig card is a wonderfull card, but is useless in a 6515

HP ipaq with navtec gps software and sd card fails

Ok, nice job Robert,

I'm posting your solution here to remove it from the unsolved problems list.

Solution by Robert:
This problem was finally resolved as a corrupted map file on the SD memory card in the hp ipaq 5550. Solution was to reformat the memory card using fat32 memory format. I used a SD memory card slot on my laptop and right click the drive letter and select format to format the memory card. After that, I reloaded map files to the memory card and all was OK. Note that previously I had loaded map files on the memory card successfully but that was not good enough. A reformat of the memory card was apparently needed.
I had also previously tried a hard full reset of the ipaq by pressing and holding the lower two buttons (calendar and itask) while holding in the reset button with the stylus for 5 seconds and resynced my contacts and reloaded the gps software, but this was to no avail. Try the re-format.
