Thanks for all your comments; but I was able to fix the problem with my Sansui playing only only dvd's in black & white.I purchased a dvd lens cleaning disk ( availableat just about any retail store for about $10.00) fused it according to its directions & the problem is solved. The disk reccommends that it be used after 8to 10 hours of play on your dvd. Thanksto one & all Gtrat source of help. Happy New Year to All Billy Day.

You need to move the S Video switch in back to the left and the (yellow) video cable needs to be in the DVD/VCR Output onthe right side. We just had this problem and did this and now we have COLOR!!!!

Our dvd player now only works showing movies in black and white. What can we do? It use in color but for some unknown reason the movies are in black and white.

Hello,

someone must have pressed something mistakenly.

Check the DVD remote and press PAL/NTSC. The color should appear.

Or you could also check the video wire at the back of the DVD and TV, maybe it has loosed contact.

I wish you all the best.

Cant get color picture when playing DVD's

I too had the same problem. On the Vzio there are AV plug ins on the left side (not the back, but the left side). Use these jacks when connecting to the DVD player and choose the AV button on the TV remote. Viola!

DVD plays only in black and white?

You've never heard of a dvd player having that capability, I've never heard of it either.

It is either a mis-match on the connections (e.g. component output connected to a composite input or vica-versa), faulty leads or something wrong with their TV.

I would suggest you advise them to check ALL settings and connections, try different leads, and test it with another TV.

Hope this helps.
