Griffin evolve remote not functioning

I just opened my Griffin evolve speakers last night and I ant get the remote to work.  I read where your ipod must be updated so I did that and it still doesnt work.  Maybe the battery is dead?  If that is so then I dont know how to change it.

    Hello???

I thought it was my remote, so I returned the system for another Evolve and the remote does not respond. My iPOD is up to date. How do I manage the firmware?

Just opened my Evolve (that Best Buy was selling for a suspiciously low $199), and it sounds good, but I can't get the RF remote to work. Also opening it to try a battery change (even though it's BRAND NEW) without marring the back surface isn't exactly intuitive.

How did you take off the back to put in new batteries... try syncing your speakers by holding the 2 volume buttons on the base at the same time for about 2 secs.... the light will start to blink and you just click any button on your remote. If that doesnt work then its firmware

Well, you did the right thing by verifying that the speakers are not the problem (they work in an identical system). Try connecting a different iPod, just to rule out that being a problem. Some of these docks need an adapter for some versions of the iPod... check to make sure you have the right one. Otherwise, if the base is defective, maybe you can get a replacement from Griffin. Contact their technical support staff. Good luck.

Bose sounddock remote and ipod menu functions

Unfortunately I've never seen a universal remote that will control the extra functions of this. If it's the original SoundDock, you can only do: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan. If this is a SoundDock II or SoundDock Portable, you can only control: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan, and playlist up/ playlist down. Quite honestly, that's all I need to do on my SoundDock. I can't really read what's on my iPod from where I'm sitting in the first place. It may be possible to use a universal learning remote for this, but you'd have to teach commands from an apple remote as well as the bose remote, and the learning remote (+apple remote) may cost you over 1/3 the cost of the SoundDock. It also may not work perfectly. I hope this helps somewhat.

Griffin evolve speakers

The back plate is definitely snap off. As teodo mentioned, do not pull the entire rubber backing off. On the bottom and sides of the back plater there are two snaps, each directly on either side of the wider ridge along each edge. The top is a different problem. The snaps are on the speaker side and clip onto the bottom of the upper edge of the back panel. To remove the back plate: Start on the bottom of the speaker at the back edge. Pull away the rubber edge carefully to expose the joint between the back panel and the speaker box. Along the center of the of this joint on the panel is a wider ridge. Place a thin flat edged tool on one side of the ridge, pry, then push forcibly until the inner edge of the back plate is apart. Do this to each of the edges on the bottom and sides of the speaker. Don't peel away any rubber on the top side of the speaker. Press your flat edged tool into the joint and lift gently the back plate side of the joint before pushing it out. This will disengage the clips on that edge. If you're looking to replace the batteries, they are 3.5V 5200maH. Take Care

I can't get open the remote.

Disconnect all cables and pull plug out from the wall and then reconnect. This worked for us here.
