I have a RB800 with the data code of June 2005. It also gives a low battery indication and refuses to operate shortly after installing a new battery. This problem seems to be a lot worse when it is used in cool or cold weather.

Mine won't turn on anymore either. Anyone seen the manual that might be able to troubleshoot this.

The cpu board has failed or is failing. To be specific......a capacitor on the board has failed allowing current to flow when the unit is not in use. I see a new cpu board in your future or new rangefinder.

I experienced exactly this problem. I have now solved it completely by removing the nasty thin steel battery spring in the cap of the battery housing, and soldering in place a much thicker, gold plated spring which I removed from a no longer needed, low power but well constructed LED Lenser torch. That was two months ago, and my CR123 is still showing full power, whereas before I would have been on probably the second or third battery by now. I feel sure that the old spring, which was as I say very thin and bendy, was creating a short circuit when the cap was put on over the battery. The new spring is clearly doing the job, and half an hour's work has saved me the fortune I was thinking of paying for a replacement pair.

Rx 1000 wont power up even with new battery

This problem is caused by the 'step' inside the battery cover which prohibits the tip of the battery from contacting the nipple inside the cover. I fitted a thin piece of aluminium strip (20thou) and the rangefinder works perfectly now. Make sure you dont bridge-out the +ve to the neutral (i.e. battery casing).

I have a leupold digital rangefinder RX IV Boone and Crocket edition, and suddenly stoped working, I changed the battery and nothing happened

I fitted a thin piece of aluminium strip (20thou) and the rangefinder works perfectly now. Note that most new CR2 batteries have higher sides which shields the tip too effectively - check it out.

My RB800C seems to have a battery problem...seems to always show low battery power and will give a yardage reading or two before refusing to work again. This AM I put a new battery in it and again it...

I struggled to work out what was going on with mine (I had the same problem) and concluded that it was either an issue with the electronics, which was beyond my skills to fix, or something much simpler. We all tend to assume the more complicated answer, so I focused on the very thin and nasty spring inside the battery housing cap. I wondered if that spring was deforming in some way and causing a short circuit. So a couple of months ago I unscrewed the two tiny retaining screws that hold the plate on which the spring sits, took the plate out, removed the spring, and replaced it with a much thicker, gold plated spring taken from a small flashlight I no longer had a use for. I soldered the spring into location on the plate, returned the plate to the battery housing cap, and inserted a new battery. Two months later, the battery is still showing full power.

Battery goes flat after less than 10 uses

You will find that 3000 uses is only under test conditions at a certain temperature level etc. If your battery only lasts ten uses then the unit has a problem and needs to go to the manufacturer. 500 to a thousand is more realistic figure. If its cold where you live or use it expect the lower end of performance out of your batteries.

The RX series of range finders are not of the optic quality that other Leupold optics are. I have used my RX IV in place of my binoculars, but it is not adequate for glassing for game full time. The rangefinding abilities left a lot to be desired for me. As long a the object was under 450 yards, it worked fine. Past that was somewhat difficult to get a range at times. Hope this helps.
