Question about RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100
Never remove the ring and clean the trackball unless your phone isn't under a warrenty. Run the app loader on the phone if it doesn't work you'll have to replace the phone through your phone company if you have a warrenty. IF you don't have a warrenty you are free to try and clean it or replace the trackball and ring, they are amazingly cheap. check out amazon.

Cleaning the track ball on blackberry phones. Remove the metal ring
then the ball mechanism remember how you removed it because it needs to
go in the same way. You can also try removing the battery from
phone taking a qtip with alcohol the higher the percentage of alcohol
the better. and wiping and rolling the ball around even without
removing it from the phone. this usually helps unless the ball is
