Question about KitchenAid KAWS850LE Top Load Washer
I am in the market for a new washer, but I want one with the same capacity (or more) as my current washer (Kitchenaid KAWS777EZO) which only says "Super capacity PLUS/Heavy duty." I have looked all through the manual that came with it, and I cannot find the capacity. Help?
Thank you, Tom Hayes

this is the site to find out how to fix your washer.
you have a broken drive coupling.
it probably wont agitate or spin, but will fill and drain.
you need to remove 2 screws from the control panel, hinge it back and then remove the 2 brass colored clips that hold the cabinet to the base. once you do then pull the entire cabinet forwards to a 45 degree angle and pull it off the base.
then pull the 2 clips off pump and then 2 more on the motor. that will allow you to get to the drive coupling. you will find it to be broken.
replace it with part number 285753a for about 15-20 bucks.

It sounds like you have a broken motor coupling. This is a very inexpensive and simple repair.
If the washer will fill and drain, but won't agitate or spin, you may have a broken motor coupling. The noise of the motor engaging, lack of agitation and ability to still drain are the usual symptoms. This is a common fail item with this model washer through normal wear and tear. Newer versions of the coupler are more resilient and resist breaking. The following link explains how to replace one:
The motor coupling is located between the drive motor and the transmission and takes the place of a drive belt. They do wear out and can break. The replacement part number is included in the link I provided and is an improved upgraded coupling that is more resilient. It should last longer. If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
A replacement coupler can be purchased on line at appliancepartspros.com for about $11. Just use the part number in the link and "Search by Part Number" for your search criteria.

you may have 2 problems, first check the lid switch for a broken or burnt wire, part #3949237 if needed. also, take a look at the direct drive coupler on the shaft of the motor, it is made up of 3 pieces and it may have become damaged. hope this helps.

Hello, Before you proceed you should understand any service you perform on your dryer could potentially void any warranty, It is your discretion. I wouldn't be too concerned about the unit cycling on & off at the end of a cycle, many dryer's have an automatic "wrinkle guard" feature and that is how they function and some cycle on & off for up to an hour after or until the door is opened. I also am not clear if it is gas or electric soooo...if it's electric, disconnect the vent from the dryer and run a "timed" dry cycle not "auto-dry" without a load and see how it perform's. If it performs ok then you have your problem...poor or blocked venting. On the other hand if it is gas, you should not run the unit without it exhausting outside and consiquently you'll have to wait for a authorized pro. The other thing you want to investigate is how well the washer is spinning the clothes, are they fairly well rinsed before entering the dryer ? Just something to consider, obviously soaking wet is not good for drying in the dryer. Let me know if any of this help's and I'll watch for your response. Good luck and thanks for coming to fixya today. Please rate the info provided positively if helpful and reply to me if not helpful. Thanks again, macmarkus :)

load lite, and if the problem still is there let run empty a couple of times, if there is still a problem it is off track and a professional needs to go inside of it you can do it yourself but not recommended so call a pro!!!
