Question about Sansui COM1307AD 13 in. Combo
Once this happens, I can turn the tv back on, but screen remains blank, no sound, no anything. Sounds to me like the sleep timer somehow got set, but can't seem to turn it off or fix the problem. I'm wondering if the tube is going bad and once warmed up shuts down, but there's no sound either. It just seems to shut down after about 5 min.

there is what is called a "dew sensor" in a lot of vcr's that keep you from playing a tape if it senses moisture in the unit because a tape will stick to the video head and get all bunged up. sometimes they go bad and will keep you from playing a tape even when there is no moisture present. if your are electronically inclined you can take the back off and locate the dew sensor, then disconnect it. the constant whirring noise is the unit's way of trying to dry off the video head cylinder. the dew sensor, which is usally located behind the video head, is a dark grey thing about a half inch by half inch and has two wires going to it.

the relay on the power board needs to be replaced; if you feel confident to do this:unplug the tv wait about a 1/2 hour then remove the tv's case carefully look for a small black or, brown box about 1/2" x 1" x 1/2" this relay should have a designation such as Rly 1 printed on the circuit board it must be unsoldered and, removed the numbers on the relay can be entered into a search engine to find a replacement

My girlfriend had the same issue with her 1300a. We saw on another forum that they took off the extra AV panel and infared receiver, so we opened it up. We couldn't really find either, but when we tightened all the plugs up things seem to be working fine again. Back to watching the Lifetime channel :(
