Question about Haier DVD100 DVD Player

Open Question

Haier TV/DVD Combo will not accept the DVD.

The DVD has worked perfectly since last October. Yesterday I stopped a DVD in mid-play and ejected it from the machine. When I tried to put my morning Yoga DVD into the machine, it would not accept it. There are 2 silver bars blocking the opening. I turned it on and off to no avail. I went onto Haier's site for help. The site told me to call Haier customer service if I encountered this problem. Customer service told me to unplug the machine for 30 minutes, then replug and turn on. I did that and nothing changed. There are still these 2 silver bars one on each end of the opening where the DVD is supposed to go in. When I turn it on, it acts like there is a DVD in it and it tries to load, then it finally says "no disk".

SOURCE: We have a Haier DVD101B dvd player that won't work now...

At least you got 6 months of use out of yours, which is 6 months more than I got out of mine. I took mine out of the box and it would not even turn on. When I called the manufacturer, they said they could not help me at all. I bought it for my daughter to take to college, and I guess it is just going to go in the trash.

Why doesn't the open/close button on DVD player of DVD/VCR combo work?

Assuming there is not a forgotten tape stuck in the VCR side, the mode selection logic has gotten all confused. On the VCR side, a tape is grabbed and loaded to be played. There probably is an EJECT button that is enabled for later use. The DVD side is disabled so no buttons work. On the DVD side, the open/close button is enabled (if no VCR-side problem is detected), allowing you to place a DVD in the tray and close it to play. The VCR side is disabled so no buttons work. That's the theory. From your description a sensor on the VCR side may have failed or been damaged, causing the player to keep reverting to VCR and preventing use of the DVD side.

Have a Toshiba hlv87 tv/dvd combo that will not eject a good dvd

I've had the same problem. I called Toshiba support and all they could say was to unplug it. Since I already had done that, they were going to send a service person over for a couple hundred bucks (which they get a cut of) to take it apart. Haa

Go-Video VCR Problem with accepting/ejecting tapes

As with any VCR, there are rubber parts inside that have become slick. This is a simple repair for any shop. The mechanisms are Samsung ones if I remember correctly. Expect a parts cost between $20-$40. Add in the local labor rate for the total cost. This is worth the repair cost as any replacement would not last anywhere near as long. This is also a normal occurrance as rubber parts harden with age. I have repaired many of these over the years.

Zenith XBV243 CD player keeps ejecting disk

You may need to try a cleaning disc to remove dust from the laser heads, as dust may be impeding the player from recognizing the disc type.  Also, double check the manual to see what disc formats your player can handle.  All players have a variety of formats they accept or reject.  If the owner's manual verifies that it does accept that CD format, try the cleaning.  If that doesn't work, it may an issue that will require an authorized service center to look at, which may not be work the cost as replacement DVD players are very inexpensive.  Avoid combo players such as the DVD/VCR combo, as when one quits performing, you either have to replace the entire unit or add a new single component for the bad one.  Hope this helps!

Insignia DVD/Cassette combo player

I imagine you have checked the disk for scratches top and bottom, if so you can purchase a cd/dvd lens cleaner cdrom as the laser may need realigning and cleaning.

Movies on my recorded discs freeze after a few minutes of play

Sometimes this unit gets "confused" - not sure why -- but try first using a CD cleaning disk and let it start and stop a couple times (sometimes lens gets dirty and does this) - if that doesn't help then try unplugging unit and leave unplugged (from wall socket) for about 30min then plug in, set local time and then see if the disks play okay - sometimes this "resets system"
