If/when you've just purchased a (brand) new TomTom GPS, you can register it (at the TomTom.com website) and download the latest map (for your device) .... free ... as part of the latest map guarantee. Whenever you connect your GPS to the TomTom website (via TomTom HOME), you'll get (free) updates to your current map version - ... but they are NOT new versions of the maps. To get new versions of your (current) map, you'll need to purchase the update (e.g. online, on the TomTom website). Upon paying for it, you will get the activation codes, etc. for you to download, validate and install the maps.
If your GPS has lifetime maps, (after you have registered), you'll be able to connect (via TomTom HOME) to get the latest map release, without requiring any code/password.
This is a coding error (problem with the software). There is nothing you can do about this but contact TomTom and complain enough until they get their software gooroos to fix it in the next update. You can attempt to redownload the phonebook but that takes forever if you have a lot of numbers and you will most likely get the same result. Most phones won't even download the phonebook at all so consider yourself lucky. Sorry.
Hi, The best way to update your TomTom is to download the latest TomTom Home software and install it. Once installed, attached your TomTom to the PC via USB and register it with TomTom Home. From within TomTom Home, get the latest software download and install it to your TomTom. This works for me.
Hi, Here's a link for tomtom home. I would suggest that you try to download it again. When the download starts choose 'save' instead of open. Save it to your desktop (easier to find). after download is complete double ckick the file on your desktop and let it install. You should have no problem doing it this way.
TomTom mobile is something different entirely.
If this helps you plz take the time to rate it for me. Thank you kindly. If you have more questions post comment, I'll be happy to assist you further.
have you tried setting your home address on the tomtom itself? I was having the same problem until I did that and then it downloaded. But it wont download by itself. You have to go into your "my computer" file and find the tomtom device and select installtomtomhome
