The default password is 136 900
You may have to enter it twice
Once you have entered the default and changed the password, you can then go in and turn the password off:
The same password is used for both
Parental Control and Disc Lock. Enter
your six-digit password when prompted
on the screen. The default password is
136900.
1 In ‘PREFERENCE PAGE’, press 3 4 to
highlight {PASSWORD}, then press 2 to
select {CHANGE}.
2 Press OK and the menu appears.
Old Password
New Password
Confirm PWD
OK
3 Use the numeric keypad (0-9) to enter
your old six-digit password.
➜When doing this for the first time, key
in ‘136900’.
➜If you forget your old six-digit
password, key in ‘136900’.
4 Enter the new six-digit password.
5 Enter the new six-digit password a second
time to confirm.
➜The new six-digit password will now
take effect.
6 Press OK to confirm.

My bf hit lock dvd and dont have a password. never set up one

As long as no password was actually entered, then access the general set up menu using your remote. There is a Disc Unlock option--choose it. If it does not allow you to access it--it is greyed out, for example, then exit the menu, and try to play a DVD. When it asks you for the password, try 136900. If that universal password is accepted, then again access the general setup menu, and choose the Disc Unlock option.

Hope this helps!!

My Philips DVP642 is asking me for a password before I play a dvd. It only does this on certain dvds and I cannot distinguish which dvds will need a password, which ones won't or what the password is for...

Try the password 136900. If this password works, then using your remote, access the general setup menu and chose the Disc Unlock option.

Hope this helps!!!

First time ever dvd player is asking for a password

Password = 136900 (that's the default password). Not sure how to stop it from asking though, cause that's my problem. Evertime I play a divx disc it asked for a password.

Asking for a password

I had the password problem with the Phillips DVP-5140. I looked up the user manual on the Phillips website and searched for "password". There is a manufacturer default password of 136900. I entered that number and was then able to play the DVD. The password may be different for other models, but you can find the default in the user manual for your specific model.
