How did u install win xp on compaq pre...

Hi, I am facing problem with installation. I have already slipstreamed ICH10 SATA) drivers and service pack 3 in my XP installaion cd. This cd works fine on other machines that require SATA drivers during installation to recognise the SATA har disk.
On Compaq CQ60 104 TU , it recognises the hard disk, and i am able to partition it. However after the first reboot, the setup stops giving BSOD (Blue screen) and nothing seems to go ahead. I have tried diferent CMOS settings but there is hardly any scope due to limited settings available there.
I have checked the memory and Hard drive and found OK.

Clarification Request

-   Would anyone be so kind as to make a walkthrough for the dummies that do not know what slipstream, floppy or SATA means? I just want XP installed on my computer to make t go faster, but everywhere I look there are no understandable explanations for those of us who don't know thhat much about computers..

If there is link or someone makes a walkthrough, that'd be great! -   andrea_marti

to install xp in any machine that has an intel chipset be it hp, dell or whatever is relatively easy ....the solution is found here

go to http://downloadcenter.intel.com/ and in the search textbox type "32-bit Floppy Configuration Utility" then download it.

extract the content of that zipped file that is called f6flpy3287.zip .

then click on this site http://www.tacktech.com/download.cfm?file=microsoft/sata/sata-drivers.zip....here you get all the drivers for sata intel chipsets ....The content of this zipped file is similar to that of f6flpy3287.zip but its advisable you use f6flpy3287.zip contents to slipstream.

secondly download a software called winlite from http://www.nliteos.com/download.html ...its a freeware
then follow this site

Remember, you have to manually load disk drivers at the begining of the windows cd boot, prior to installation. Windows will ask you at the bottom of your screen "load third party drivers..." Check that you slip streamed with all the correct drivers for SATA. I don't know your Compaq hardware flavors so I don't know what you need. There are many SATA drivers. You need to get all your hardware specs in vista prior to XP install, as you will not have them otherwise. Use Belarc to find out about your hardware. Drop all your drivers onto second partition, or create a CD. Every driver is availiable from vendors, or HP/Compaqs website. Don't use driver websites. I am running XP on a CQ50, no problems, runs better.

I am also not able to boot with SP3 boot CD. It does not give me any display on the screen. Unfortunately, I ended up installing Vista Business. Now I devised an alternate to do this.
