first you install pc software then connect phone via usb cable and then download the software.

If you have a legal downloaded copy of Norton, go to the purchase confirmation email you received from Symantec and click on the download link again. If it doesn't work, call Symantec with your order number to request an updated download link.

This has worked for me in the past. I had the same problem a year ago and Symantec provided an updated download link.

please see to it that the product is genuine
When live update fails, it is most likely due one of the following reasons:
· No license file (*.slf) is installed
· The installed license file (*.slf) has expired
· The trial period has expired
· The installed license file (*.slf) has been deleted, or become damaged or corrupted
· The software is not able to able to communicate with the Symantec servers

No license file (*.slf) is installed
It is necessary to have a valid license file installed into the program to authorize it for the download of the content updates using Live Update.
It is necessary to register your license(s) at the Licensing Portal (https://licensing.symantec.com/) to generate the license file if it was not included with your license certificate (*.pdf).

The license file (*.slf) has expired
It is required to have a current support contract to be authorized to have the most current content updates downloaded. If you have renewed your support contract, it is necessary to register your license(s) at the Licensing Portal (https://licensing.symantec.com/) to generate the new license file if it was not included with your license certificate (*.pdf).
This could also be the case if you have a current support contract, but had a trial license key installed in the software. It is necessary to register the support contract renewal to generate the new license file.
The trial period has expired

Many of Symantec's products offer a limited-time trial period where you can test the software in your environment. When the trial period expires, the software will typically cease to function as part of the Trialware installation agreement.

The installed license file (*.slf) has been deleted, is damaged or corrupted
If the license file that was installed in the program has been deleted or is corrupted, it is necessary to reinstall the license.

If you registered the license into your Licensing Portal account, you can log into your account and re-download the license file. The software is unable to communicate with the Symantec servers
The Symantec software must be able to establish a connection to the servers to be able to download the current content updates. If the software is unable to establish the server connection, then it will not be able to download the content updates.
You would need to check your network security settings to ensure the network traffic is not being blocked. Failing to download attachments


Symantec Norton anti Virus
is a real pain in the neck.
it blobks everything when you install it.
go to Symantec Control Panel or Norton Anitivirus' Control panel. then choose Allow Yahoo (or your Application) to acces the internet.

Error 1706 & error occured while loading savrt32.dll


They are the manual instructions but Symantec to have an automatic removal tool floating around. put the CD back in the drive (or get access to it from it's directory or whatever) then repair it as follows:

C:\> msiexec /i "D:\SAV\Symantec AntiVirus.msi"

let it go through it's dog&pony show then when it's done, uninstall it properley:

C:\> msiexec /x "D:\SAV\Symantec AntiVirus.msi" or

Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package from:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

Install and run. Remove the offending Symantec Install Package from the list. Wella.
