Dishwasher Fisher & Paykel F1 fault - what is it?

Dishwasher Fisher & Paykel single drawer started flashing F1 when we were out today. Turned it off at the power point, but it continued flashing again after it was switched on again. What does F1 mean? I dont have a manual. Can you provide instructions how to fix it myself please? or is it serious? guessed the model number. Its approx 3+ years old - single drawer white.

Thanks but I did unplug the dishwasher twice thinking it may reset it, but a couple of minutes after switched on each tinme, the motor starts up and F1 starts flashing again. Would like to have a definnite answer what F1 stands for please if anyone has a manual. Its fairly urgent for a holiday house that has new tenants due to arrive tomorrow. It stopped working when I was in residence not tenants.

Thank you for the two links. It sounds as though it is the flood switch, and lots of suggestions as to the cause, and a possible remedy with the towels and hairdryer, has been helpful. Samurai is a good site.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, the error code "F1" indicates a leak or overflow has been detected and flooding is possible. This would refer to the drain area below the tub of the dishwasher. In most occasions, cleaning the filter, strainer, mesh, grid, sump, impeller, pump and hose should address the error code. There are however instances where the error code is persistently displayed even if the aforementioned areas/components have been cleaned and dried. One method of correcting this is to force dry the bottom/under the tub with the use of a can of compressed air, an air compressor, a reversible vacuum cleaner, hair dryer or even a ventilator/electric fan. There have been reports of successful tricks like laying the dishwasher on its side. Thereafter pressing on the STOP, PAUSE or CANCEL for more than 5 seconds should clear the code or unplugging the unit for an extended period of time.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

open bottom drawer, use dish towels to sop up water, aim hair dryer at base for 5 mins. plug back in and dishwasher should reset itself.

i suppose the "flood switch" is dry, but the terminals for one of the drawers are a little dodgy;  Removed the terminals, clean the contacts, re-fit the terminals - hop tis helps..

    else

Power off at the breaker for a few minutes and then back on is usually the way.
BTW that port on the garbgae disposal that the drain line gets hooked onto does not get drilled out. It get knocked out so the entire port hole is open. If you drilled you may not have the hole all the way open.
A flat blade screwdriver and a hammer from outseide to inside and when its knocked inside the G/D turn the diposal over and llet the pug fall into your hand. or  Unplug power, turn off water. Remove lower drawer as shown in installation book; can be found online too. Mop up as best as you can with a sponge, place a fan pointing into the cavity and allow it to dry the interior, mine took an hour or so. Reassemble and restore power/water, and it should reset the fault.
Be sure to resolve whatever issue caused the flood, mine was hand soap in the rinse agent reservoir, caused lots of bubbles and overflow. Flushed that as well as possible and mopped up the suds, ran 3 rinse cycles and a Normal wash with no detergent.

Hi I have just fixed the very same problem , I over stacked the dishwasher which alowed it to overflow and set off flooding sensor. Remedy 1 open dishwasher fully open 2 dry up as much water as possible 3 put a hair dryer on hot and direct into the back of the cabinet you will see a grey plastic cover on the bottom floor this is the sensor run on full for about 5 - 10 minutes making sure the heat go into that erea. Also dont overheat your hair dryer, when finnished close the dishwasher shut and start your normal cycle. The F1 and spanner should be gone it worked for me first time and 100%

    try this

    1. Check the drain hose and make sure there is no blockage. Also ensure
the hose isn't raised too high as water might run back to the machine.

    2. Check the port hole and make sure it's big enough for drainage. If
not I'll be either bashing it or drilling it out to make it bigger.

    3. Reset the machine by powering off the breaker for a few minutes. Turning the power off at the wall doesn't work.

    4. Last option would be to use the advice from Fisher & Paykel themselves and leave the door ajar for 5-7 days.

    if not worked try this..

I think all you have to do is release any blockages in the drain pipe.

I think F1 is flooding error. Try checking the drain lines. Also unplug power cable for five minutes to reset the control circuit.

Check the sink drain hose, and ensure there is no obstruction in there. Ensure that no water is staying into the machine.

Try cutting power for ten minutes to reset the machine, to do this, trip the circuit breaker, or unplug power plug.

If you still get the error you may need to replace the drain pipe, where the flooding sensor is.

Before doing this, leave the machine door opened for 2 days, moisture trapped inside the machine also gives you F1.

Also ring F&P calling the number listed on the owner manual.

Hey the answer was definite, F1 is flooding error, the flooding sensor in placed in the drain lines.

    1. Unplug.

    2. Leave door opened few days.

    3. Call F&P.

    4. Replace drain pipe.

    That is what you do.

    Should be more than enough.

F1 error on Fisher and Paykel Dish Drawer

Sorry did not see your problem report earlier. If you have checked the sensor under the bottom drawer and it is dry, then F1 is caused by top drawer power filter fault. This means the bottom drawer controller is giving the F1 error but the top drawer controller has no power. Can you confirm this.

Fisher & paykel fault "F1" is displayed on the top

hello
F1 means the flood sensor senses water at base of machine at PC board.
You need to take out bottom drawer and check for water puddle under where the drawer was.If there is water you can get the machine going again by comletely drying it out(F1WILL CLEAR),but it still means you have a leak. With bottom drawer out you can really see whats going on.Once F1 is clear you can actually run upper drawer and see if it leaks. Most likely culprit are the lid actuators.Replace all 4 . It'll run like new.Don't overload drawer .That can cause lid leak too. Also the PC board may be damaged and may start to go crazy giving fake F1 codes.$80 easy fix.
good luck

F1 in F&P 2 drawer dishwasher

You will need to be a bit more specific when you say "no flood".

Are you having this F1 fault in one or both drawers?

What did the engineer do when he was there last time?

Does the F1 code flash with beeps?

What happens when you turn the mains power off and on after a short delay?

Please provide the actual model number of your fisher and paykel 2 drawer dishwasher.

ok , F1 means your flood switch has activated, which is underneath the drawer. now they show the F1 fault because of 2 reasons.1st there is still water underneath drawer causing switch to activate. 2nd your activator board which has the flood switch attached is faulty reading your posting it has been about 15 days since the fault happened. the water should have dryed around switch by now. if there is power to the unit and it is still coming up with F1 fault then possibly you have damaged the activator board. please reply and tell me if you have power on or off at the present time. to fix the problem it is alittle bit involved but i can guide you thru it when you reply .good luck

My Fisher Paykel dishwasher is flashing F1 - top drawer only. The bottom drawer is working just fine.

F1 error means the flood switch in the drawer is activated. If there is water inside when you open the drawer then you will have to manually empty it with a small container.

Most likely the solenoid that controls inlet water is faulty or the water level sensor is faulty.

Try turning the mains power and water off and on again and run dishwasher. If fault persists then you may have replace the parts.

Fisher & Paykel single drawer dishwasher F1 flashing.

F1 indicates a problem with the Flood sensor. I cleaned all the filters etc. removed the drawer viewed under the drawer, it was dry. There is nothing further I can do, so called the Appliances repair person and booked an appointment for him to determine if an outlet hose is blocked or has a hole in it or whatever. Thanks for all the suggestions Blokes. I'm technically challenged. Happy New Year
