Question about Samsung DVD-M105 DVD Player
we are trying to set our samsung p181 dvd player from region 2 to region free
we have tried the procedure explained in your site but after we select our language we cannot go on with the steps we select the language hit repeat button on the remote and enter the 5 digit region code thats stated in your explanation (38767) and after that nothing happens we dont see any code displayed and when we proceeded from that step as if it has completed safely, we hit 0 for region free and nothing happens
why we cant go on after the language selection and repeat button? why we cant see our players region code displayed on the screen and most importantly why cant we set it region free :D to set it free and not to set it free thats our problem :D kidding aside if you could help us we really would lappreciate it :D
thnx for your time
The instructions for the DVD-P181 are actually correct as described in other posts but can be a bit confusing. Please allow me to clarify using my example;
With your DVD-P181 switched on, follow these instructions using your Remote Control;
1/ Press the <DVD> button
2/ Press <0><0><0><0><0> (this is 0, 5 times)
3/ Press <repeat> (careful not to press the <repeat A-B> button)
4/ Press <7><6><8><8><4> (ONLY if your player is currently region 4 - refer to the table below for other pre-set regions)
5/ The Region window should now appear on screen saying that your current region is Region 4 and asking what region you want to change it to.
6/ Press <0> for the new Region (0 is region-free)
7/ Press <Open/Close> button once (to open the tray)
8/ Press <Open/Close> button again (to close the tray
9/ Press <Power> button to turn the player off
Now, when you turn the player back on, you should be able to play DVD's from any region. Good luck everyone.
This table refers to Step 4. You need to choose the Region code which your machine is currently set to, to unlock the Region Menu which allows you to set the device to another region.
In my example, the DVD player was purchased in Australia is by default set to Region 4. The 5 digit number I needed was 76884.
5 digit code:
region 1 : 29334
region 2 : 37867
region 3 : 56732
region 4 : 76884
region 5 : 53814
region 6 : 24462

1. Ensure disc tray is empty.
2. Press "Repeat" on the R/C then enter 5,7,5,3,8 or the region key for your region.
3. The numbers "02" appear in the top left of the screen.
4. Quickly press the number "0" button on the R/C, for "multi region".
6. Wait 20 seconds, then power off, then on again.
Thats it, and it does work!
I got the region codes from other threads as follows
R1 - 29334
R2 - 57538
R3 - 56732
R4 - 76884
R5 - 53814
R6 - 24462
