You need to know the name of the wireless network you have set up on the router, along with the WAP or WEP password used to secure it.

I dont know my netgear password to fet wi-fi with my ipod touch

Hi,

You need to follow steps to know wireless password

Connect a computer with a cable to router.
1. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
2. Access the router, usually by typing 'http://192.168.1.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on Wireless Settings'(under Setup) from the left menu.
5. If wep is selected in Security mode, then check the encryption strength and copy the code entered in the Key that has a black dot before it.
other wise if other then WEP you have some other option selected check for the Password that will show up in passphrase box. you might have to reset it to some other Password if it shows up as stars.
6. If you make any changed on this page, click apply, other wise click logout in the left hand side bottom menu.

Hope it can resolved your issue

New NETGEAR router. Trying to Itouch to sign on with WPA2. Can' find internet.

Tap Settings > General > About then scroll down to Wi-Fi Address, write down the MAC address. Switch your router to MAC address filtering so that a password is not needed, but it will only let the devices whose MAC addresses that you enter connect to your router.

You will have to do the same for your computers as well.

If using a PC. Goto the start menu at the bottom, and select RUN, then type CMD (enter)
type: ipconfig /all

You will see the mac address that you NIC or Wireless card has. Enter that in the mac address security as well.

If using a MAC, goto the top left of your screen, click the apple logo, about this mac, more info, goto locations, enter your airport wireless card and or nic Mac.

This is a more secure way to do your security since so many programs can crack wireless wpa and wep these days.

My ipod touch has recognised the wireless networks and when i type the passwords in it sais cannot connect to network... any suggestions it is a netgear router

when it attempts to connect to your network, it is asking for the wep key
which is located on the bottom label of your wireless router.
look on your router and write down the wep key.
attempt to connect again and enter that key.
also go to settings and make sure you attempting to log into your wireless not your neighbors.
your network identifier should be on your router also.

if this helps please leave a vote in fixya

Connect itouch to wifi

Hi mac42eli,

You need any router or wireless access point to conenct your ipod touch to the internet or even your home network.

These days most wired routers will also have the option of wireless. You can check this by entering the routers configuration page. Usually by typing in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Or more simply, google you wired router model to check.

Bluetooth is not currently available for connection in the ipod touch or iphone. The iphone supports it, but for bluetooth headsets. Therefore, regardless of the fact that your mac pro (very nice computer by the way) can support it, your ipod touch can't take advantage of other bluetooth devices.

I hope this helps.

Nathan.
