Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console
I received the above laser blaster, but can't seem to get it to work and there are no instructions with it.I have plugged it into the console, but not sure where the yellow plug and the smaller plug goes, as if I put it into the tv, the screen is blank. Hopefully you can help. My son is only 6, but loves shooting games, so I thought it would be fun for him.
The games shop said they only work with games for older kids, but I did try it with a 12+ game and it won't work. Is there something to be done for each game, or would the game say something?
Hope you can help the non-techno mom
Things like this are usually caused by overlooked manufacturing discrepancies. It may be best to contact Sony with your system's model info, serial number, and date of manufacture. They may be able to help you under warranty. Greg Holiday

Your CDs could be scratched, try a movie DVD and if that plays, then clean your game disks, if not; well, time to get a new PS2.
I hear Guitar Hero is GREAT!

SOURCE: PS3 laser Problem
It sounds like you bought a defective laser or it is the chip on your "sister board". There is a chip on the circuit board thats on the bottom of the Blu-Ray drive and it has a silver rectangle on it. Some say that that chip is going bad on some machines. I have repaird 60+ PS3's this year and I haven't had this happen to me yet though. I would suggest trying another laser, then if that doesn't work try a "sister board" from the same model of PS3. I'm still not possitive if that is a possible solution though. The "sister board" is supposedly keyed to only work with the mother board it came with. Well, I hope this helps. Good luck!!

Try using the scart cable instead, if you are using the HD cable and your tv is not HD then you will have problems

Tips for a great answer:

Please try to put in an ordinary audio CD track and see if this is detected. If yes the optical is working, if not there is no laser scanning and the possibility of the head being faulty is high.
Now certain cleaner disks are not read and so will not be tracked. The best is to clean manually the laser head eye with a cotton bud with a very soft action/ without pressing of the lens eye.
If there is still no result then watch the CD if it spins or tries to spin. If the head unit moves up or down to focus or in and out of the drive, if so the board seems to work correctly and the possibility of the optical head being the suspected fault is closer.
But if any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of the processor board
