Furnace blowing warm air, ac overheats

Model 598B Puron Plus 5ton 16seer 2 stage Bryant furnace & AC 9 years old. First time had any issues furnace is blowing out warm hair (like the fan is on) Went outside and nothing is running. Call a tech, changed the thermostat (standard trouble shot task) He went outside and gave it a charge of something in a cylinder. Started up cooled my home for 10 minutes then shut off, did the same thing for 3 times till I completely shut it off. Tech mentioned it was a condenser, cost on warranty is free labor $1200 Freon $300-$500 (warranty is only 1 year and does not include labor). Or a new unit model 127A 17 seeris $2700-$3200. Lastly, he wants to replace duct work in attic which was replaced 5 years ago, as well as wall vents made larger and intakes made larger under furnace. Holy mole

Thanks for the comment. I have called another company. Tried to tun on the ac today and only the fan comes on and nothing is running outside.

Since itnis not running at all the tech could of done more damage to the unit by poasibly damaging a component or shorting out thensude on the control board.

Sounds like it is tripping on it's high pressure switch. This could be caused by a dirty condenser coil, overcharge of refrigerant, or non condensables in the system ( air most likely). I would get a second opinion from a repuatable company, sounds like he's trying to rip you off.

SOURCE: (HVAC) Furnace Not Igniting Quickly

Make sure a back draft in the flue is not happening. Wind can blow it out until the flue heats up. The flame sensor may not be close enough to the burner flame. It may be weak and need to be replaced or if its an optical one it may be dirty and not see the flame very well. Its not wasting much gas but it puts extra wear and tear on the gas controls, is noisy, and, as you said, blows cold drafty air. A gas control system that has issues of any kind is not real safe. It needs to get fixed.

SOURCE: AC will not cool. How much should a service charge cost?

If the upstairs is working and the down stairs is not,You only need to have one unit checked,Don't assume it just needs puron(If it does,You have a leak, which cost more to locate and repair than some other likely causes)This is not something you can do yourself and is illegal if you are not EPA certified.to get a fair price would depend on your geographic location and the best way would be to call around to some local heating and air companies and ask how much a service call is.(That only tells you the price for them to came and see what the problem is,They will not be able to quote a price until they know what must be done to make the repairs.

I hope this has answered all your questions.

SOURCE: Compressor kicks out and it's new

First of all, clean your outside coils so that you are assured of good cooling air. The compressors have an overtemp device that is usually internal to protect them against heat. If you have an air compressor use it to blow out the coils good. If the compressor will start, the capacitor is good so it sounds like a cooling problem with the compressor

SOURCE: AC not cooling during the day

Your AC cooling efficiency is low when he ambient temperature is high and naturally it cools well when the outside temperature drops.

Please remove the filter on the grill and try to clean it under the tap water and after removing all the dust fix it back to the unit. This would increase the cooling efficiency of the unit.

Your AC is also five years old. Please avoid frequent opening of doors or windows.

Ensure that the exhaust fan and the blower of your unit are functioning normal.

The technician might not have done a proper job in fixing the area where the refrigerant would have leaked out. Please check the refrigerant pressure to ensure that no further refrigerant leak has taken place. Or even servicing your unit he would have punchered the tubes resulting in very slow leak of refrigerant resulting in no cooling or less cooling. It takes around a month to feel the pinch of it and the refrigerant. One fine morning after sometime the unit will run and it would start throwing hot air instead of cool breeze!

My AC unit wont blow the cold air.

if the ac outside is working, but not the furnace, means there is a control problem with the furnace, check wires in the furnace, make sure there is a blower wire plugged into the contact marked cool on the control panel of the furnace

AC is set on cool & furnace comes on blowing hat air

My first thought is a bad thermostat or control board or maybe something is wired wrong. If all that seems to be working I would look at the outside unit. if that condenser fan motor is not operating then you wont get any cooling. look for a swollen capacitor. Read more

The Intertherm AC Model B3BV-030K-A is blowing warm air

If you don’t see any frost on the suction line or big line on the furnace
(that goes from the furnace to the outdoor unit) and the filter and coil are clean then you are probably low on refrigerant.
