If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm you that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide

Is this a copied game as you can get this if it is not burnt correctly.

If not and all your other games work, give the disc clean and try again. If this still does not work, take it back. Now and again you can get faulty discs.

Hope this helps.

Games discs purchased in the USA do not work on the UK model? Message on screen "could not read Disc"

The Wii console is designed to only recognize the disc in that region.
If you insert a disc from another region, the Wii can't read it.
You live in the UK, for example. If you insert discs that aren't purchased in the UK (like the USA), the Wii can't read it.

The Wii will not read the disc

"Unable to read disc" error happened today for the first time on my Wii. I positioned it horizontally and tapped on the top while it was reading a disc and it started the game. This temporary solution might bring you immediate, but probably not long lasting satisfaction.

To install wii fit

"Unable to read the disc" / "Disc could not be read" / "Eject the Game Disc" Error Message.
If you are getting one of the above error messages:
  • Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc. insertdisccorrect.gif
    • If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
    • If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards

  • If you know you are inserting the Game Disc correctly, but are still have the same problem with only one game (or if you only have one game), try cleaning the Game Disc by following the disc cleaning procedures

  • If after reading the above information you are still unable to play a game disc, please call 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options.
