Avast is a very good antivirus software.
Although there are alternatives like Avira I personally use and recommend Avast.

Hi.
One way of downgrading a computer os from Vista to XP is to boot up the computer fron a XP installation disk and format the hard disk.
This procedure will delete all files and programs on the computer and everything must be installed again and all documents etc has been deleeted.

Another way can be found here: http://windowssecrets.com/2009/03/12/01-Downgrade-Vista-to-XP-in-seven-easy-steps

Regards.

Try restoring to last known good configuration Start - Programs - Accessories - System tools - System restore. Possibly a virus or registry problem.
Also if you do not have an anti virus software I recommend free Avast AntiVirus.

Help me..whats going on with windows xp home edition

When installing a new operating system, all file saved will be deleted. Since you've lost all data, you might as well format the entire drive, and then reinstall the vista inspirat thing. Then, download an Avast! anti virus form avast.com. Download the home version, which is free and scan the computer for any viruses. Delete every last one of the suckers.

Vista Patch

Simple, most unlikely solution: Try to download patch from microsoft website and install it.

Other Solution: Go to trained professional, (geeksquad or firedog), they will install it more simply and correctly.

Installation of software by them is probably like 30 bucks.
