Ok, you might need to just take the computer to a shop and have it checked out because this is very odd indeed. Also while you're there have the CD Drive checked out.

MY DVD-RAM is not appearing in MY COMPUTER but seems okay though. I can't access, it doesn't appear but it boots from start up like putting booting cd to it seems okay. I do not know exactly what...

Okay you tried using 'regedit.exe. Now try this;

Left-click on Start, then right-click on My Computer. (Windows logo button, Computer, for Vista and Win7)

Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the fly-out menu.
Left-click on the Hardware tab.
Left-click on Device Manager.

When Device Manager loads, left-click on DVD/CD-ROM drives.
Right-click on Mashita DVD-ROM U870BJ

(Yes I know you have been to Device Manager. Just wanted to make sure all i's are dotted, and t's are crossed)

Left-click on Properties.
Now left-click on the Driver tab.
Left-click on Uninstall.

A Microsoft 'squawk box' will come up.
"Warning you are about to uninstall this device.
It's okay. Left-click on OK.

Close ALL windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Shut the computer down normally. (NOT restart)

Wait 1 minute, turn the computer on.
When Windows has fully loaded you should get a pop-up out of the system tray,
"Found new hardware".

And perhaps another pop-up, "Found Mashita DVD-ROM device"

Post back your findings in a Comment.

I'm Cambodian customer for sony VGN SR25G. now I cannot see the CD Rom driver in window explorie please help me thanks in advance

Go to Device Manager. Uninstall the CDROM.

Vista:
Start>Control Panel>System Maintenance>Double-click on the Device Manager icon.

XP:
Start>Right-click on My Computer>Left-click on Properties>Left-click on the Hardware tab>Device Manager

In Device Manager left-click on the + sign next to - CD/DVD-ROM drives.
Right-click on the name of the CD/DVD drive.
Left-click on Uninstall.

Windows will come up with a warning,
"Warning you are about to uninstall this device."
It's okay. Click on OK.

Close all windows go back to the desktop screen.
Restart your computer.
After Windows loads you should see a pop-up out of the system tray,
"Found new hardware device"

There may be another one that follows,
"Found XXXXX CD/DVD drive"

You've just made Windows match up the driver/s for your CD/DVD drive.
If you cannot use the optical drive now, suspect the laser optical eye may be dirty.
Use a can of compressed air for computers, and clean the optical drive out the best you can.

[Computer has all power removed. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery. The optical drive tray is left open before turning the laptop off, and removing power]

Or use a device for cleaning the optical drive.

If it doesn't work past this point suspect a bad optical drive.
They are rated in hours of usage.

When I start up my computer, nothing happens. The hard drive doesn?t spin, the fans don?t work, nor do I get any display. I?ve checked the power strip and know that power is getting to the computer, but...

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to boot

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?

My lg gcr 8523b cdrom drive is not reading discs. when a dics is inserted green light blinks and cd rom makes a squeaking sound but after a moment it stops and doesn,t spins. what's the matter........

Hello,

There are lots of possible reasons for this, but I will just try and give you a few troubleshootings

steps that you can try out.

The first one is that, your CD/DVD lens might have become weak, and therefore might need to be

changed, or if its just dirty, you might just need a lens cleaner.
The second reason is that, it might be that the CD you are trying to read is bad, dirty, or not

properly burnt...in this case, you might need to clean the surface of the CD properly then re-insert it.

Also, you can try to upgade your RAM(Memory Card Sticks), especially if it is less than

1Gigabyte. (I've seen a case like this before, and that is why I'm adding it.

The third reason is that, your CD/DVD Drive might be having a conflict within the OS. What I

would suggest in this case is that, Power up your system, then when the system boots, just right

click on my computer, then properties, then select the hardwares tab, then click on device

manager.
When you get to device manager page, try and locate DVD/CDrom Drives, then click on it, if your

drive is there, then just right-click on it, and select uninstall, and after this, on that same page,

click on 'Actions', and select "Scan for hardware changes". But if its not there. Just click on the

"Actions, and Then select "Scan for hardware changes".

This should automatically place your CD/DVD drive back inside your My Computer page. After

this, try the CD or DVD again.
Hope this helps you out.
Goodluck and Thanks for using fixya!

My TS-H653N CD Rom device does not work. What do

Buy a new one and replace it. Follow this tutorial on how to do it:
1. shut off your computer.
2. Unplug the power cord from your computer and the rest of the wires from the back of the computer.
3. find a sturdy flat surface on which to work on
4. unscrew all screws from the back of your computer except the power supply screws. You will make a mess if you unscrew the power supply screws.
5. open your computer up by taking the side panel off, or sliding the cover off.
6. unplug all plugs from the back of the cd-rom drive, there should be an IDE (wide) plug, a cd plug (small) and a power plug (medium).
7. unscrew the 4 holding screws on both sides of the cd-rom drive.
8. now, you just have to remove the cd-rom drive, carefully by sliding it either forward. Check the jumpers on your new cd-rom before moving to the next step. A typical cd-rom drive should be set on slave if it is using the same IDE cable on the same cable.
9. Do everything in reverse to install a new one.

Need to install second cd driver in desktop computer

It would be much simpler to remove your current CD-ROM drive, and install a CD/DVD-reader-writer combination drive.

1. Turn the computer off, and disconnect the AC power-cord.
2. Remove the side-panels from the case.
3. Disconnect the "power" and "data" cables from the back of the CD-ROM.
4. Remove the screws holding the current CD-ROM in position.
5. Slide the CD-ROM out the "front" of the case.
6. Slide the new device into place, until the face is "flush" with the front of the case.
7. Screw the device into position.
8. Connect the data and power cables.
9. Reconnect the AC power.

Windows will "find new hardware", and will adapt itself.

My CPU is saying "operating system not found on any devices." I have a compaq XP2000 and a reboot for XP2000 CD that's not working. Why? what am I doing wrong?

Hi,

appears that your hard-Drive has developed A Fault.
if you feel competant, to attempt this then do so.
start the computer, and enter The Bios settup. usually F2/esc Or del at startup. Once in the Bios, scroll across the pages or locate Boot device list. what you need to do, is change the device priority, so that the computer searches the CD/DVD Rom drive first, with your CD Inserted.
after you,ve changed the boot priority, save and exit to cmos.
Option 2. remove the side panel ( And mains Power lead )
locate The CMOS battery, round silver Battery, from the Motherboard for 10 seconds, replace the battery, side panel, power lead. And restart The Computer.
