Trying to restore windows xp

My Compaq Psario laptop got 37pop ups, then went down... I have the 2 restore disc.. I've tried to restore Windows XP. it restored most of it but wouldn't allow 15% I'd say of the files... that process took like 3 hours..still not working.. a message appears, but it's so fast, I can't read it! Help please!

Have you tried pressing the "Pause/Break" key on you keyboard ?
How many times have you tried to use the restore CD ? And if so do you have the same results ? Make sure your restore CD doesnt have any scratches on it or dirt on the read side as that may prevent it from being read. Also you may have to select to completely reinstall the Windows XP instead of just selecting "repair". The message may be the key.

It sounds like you were infected by a virus. Try booting up using your anti virus disk in the drive. Let it do a system scan. Once it is complete you can then reinstall Windows. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

Arm926ejs laptop freezes on startup

You will have to get your operating system reinstalled most likely. You may have a difficult time getting that done, unless you have the recovery disc for your computer. Your computer came from the factory with Windows CE on it. It's sort of a dumbed-down version of Windows XP. You could try to put Windows XP on it. If you can get it to take Windows XP, then it will probably work better anyway. You may be able to get the Windows CE disc from the laptop manufacturer. Try their website.

Start up problem

It appears that Service Pack 2 did not completely install. Try to boot into safe mode (F8 at startup). If you can, go to control panel, then add/remove programs. Scroll all the way down, select Windows XP Service Pack 2 and click "remove".

After it's removed, you will need to reboot, but the system should come up normally after that.

Hope this helps - please remember to rate :)

I think i converted to fat 32 now laptop is a mess! compaq evo n400c.

You have to completely reinstall the Operating System on your laptop at this point but I would re-install either Windows 2000 or XP since you will have less problem with wireless drivers, printer drivers, plug ins, etc. Make sure you have a valid Windows CD with serial numbers. After that place Windows XP CD into CD-ROM and Reboot. And you dont have to worry about converting to fat32 as Windows 2000 or XP is already a fat32 file system. Read the prompts when it comes up and answer with appropriate answers..
