There may be something under the "float" causing the unit to think it is already full of water. the float is a round cone looking device in the front corner. make sure nothing is under it or holding it "up".
the other thing is the valve may have an open coil and then it would need to be replaced.

Whirlpool dishwasher 6th sense, F9 flashing inthe indicator box, what does this mean?

based off what you described i know exactly what is wrong, the water inlet valve is stuck open, this is a small valve that opens to let water into the machine however it should close again when there is no power to it, if it keeps letting water in with the power off the valve is jammed open and you will need to replace it, should be a rather cheap job

Dishwasher is not washing

Possibly inlet hose line is blocked with crud from your water source. Please confirm by turning off water under sink, disconnecting hose under dishwasher and, WITH HOSE IN AN OLD MILK BOTTLE, slowly turn on water under sink to verify water flow. If ok, water inlet selenoid is blocked and needs to cleared (with compressed air). Alternatively, input seleniod is burned out and needs to be replaced.

Whirlpool Model DU1145XTP89 It fills with water, arms turn

The clicking sound could be coming from an internal relay since you don't think it is coming from inside the machine.

When we turn on the dishwasher it doesn't fill with water

Hi I am vortash it sounds like this is a water level switch ( vacum ) problem it is telling the machine there is water in and the machine carries on and doesn't open the flow valve to put the water in .. as it thinks it is full . or the controller is faulty and need s repalcing .. try replacing the level control first as this would be cheaper than the programer.. Regards Vortash

Whirlpool DU8900 XT-5 the water comes in at beginning of cycle and the heater heats the water, but the machine does not go any further. it kinda' hums but no water gets pumped and moving. at end of cycle...

if you can hear a low humming noise when it should be pumping water round, then suspect the circulating pump.
fault can be motor capacitor - low cost part
or
pump seized - see if you can turn it by hand

I turned on my Whirlpool dishwasher last night before I went to bed. It is a model number DU915PwP82. Sometime shortly after that, a water line broke in my neighborhood. The water was off and caused...

Hi.
Often there is a lot of grit in the water supply after a pipe has been repaired, and this may have clogged one or more of the valves in your line, or the gauze filter in the inlet port on your machine. I would first turn off the water to the machine and disconnect the flexible pipe at the inlet valve on the back of the machine. If the inlet filter is clogged, there is part of your problem. If it isn't, place the end of the inlet hose in a bucket and turn on the water supply a little bit to see if water comes out. If it doesn't flow freely, then it's likely another valve in the line is clogged.
I think the machine may have stopped because it is waiting for water to reach the required level. You could check this, I guess, by adding water from a jug and then closing the door.

Hope this helps you a bit. D.

if no water is coming into the machine at all it is a problem with the water valve, not your spray arms. as far as the spray arm goes I need the manufacture and model number to explain what to do.
